Great place. The vibe is fresh at the menu is interesting. You walk up and order. There are only a handful of tables at the place and It’s usually packed, so be aware. I highly recommend the potato balls. They were excellent! I ordered the b.a.e. sandwich with bacon cheese and delicious brioche bread. It was a bit messy but tasty. We also ordered the chicken sandwich which they say was excellent. My wife ordered the shrooms sandwich without the bread and it came in a nice little box. They also have a gluten free option. I’ll be back.

Stopped by Mad Yolks on our way to Santa Cruz and honestly walked out wondering why this place has to be so far away — because it is SO GOOD.

We ordered the Shrooms and Mad Chick, and both were outstanding.
The Shrooms was such a pleasant surprise: incredibly smooth, with eggs and mushrooms blending together beautifully. Comforting, rich, and unexpectedly memorable.

The Mad Chick fully deserves its signature status—borderline legendary in my book. The chicken has that Taiwanese-style crispy fried chicken seasoning and texture, but in one generous piece. Perfectly crispy on the outside, incredibly juicy and well-seasoned inside, not dry at all. Genuinely one of those bites that makes you pause.

We also tried the strawberry matcha latte—very tasty, though on the sweeter side. It works nicely as a dessert-style drink after the meal.

Service is solid; when it gets busy, food may take a bit longer, and seating can be limited. Parking isn’t the easiest either. That said, the food is good enough that all of this becomes easy to overlook—and it’s probably busy because it’s that good.

Bottom line: highly, highly recommended.
If you’re anywhere near Santa Cruz, do yourself a favor—stop by and grab a Mad Chick. You won’t regret it.

This is by far the best restaurant in Santa Cruz. I come here every opportunity I have to get a BAE and a strawberry matcha. This place is the best!!! Words can’t describe how good these sandwiches are. 1000/10

First time eating at Mad Yolks and I wish there was one close to my neighborhood. We tried the Chicken sandwich and the Spam Sandwich. So much flavor and great portions. I had the strawberry matcha latte and it was probably the best matcha latte I’ve had.

Even though there is a Mad Yolks is San Jose I took drive to Santa Cruz to try it out. There was plenty of metered parking nearby. About 20 people waiting for food or in line to place order. Even with the crown the team there cranked out 3 to 5 orders every few minutes. A good performance from the staff. I ordered the Mad Chick to go. It was about $19 with tip just for that. No beverage. Inside tables were all full so I took it outside and ate it leaning against my old VW. It was fantastic! Great flavors and textures. Large portions and the chicken was very crispy and loaded with flavor. A little gooey and dripping while biting bet that made it even better. I recommend it. Im going to the San Jose location next to try the tots and a standard egg sando.

Mad chick was crispy and juicy. Other burgers were above-average quality, tasty but not surprisingly delicious. Note that the burger’s add-on menu has various selections.

Service and atmosphere was neutral, no service at all since you pickup/cleanup the dishes/dining table. The restaurant is always crowded and noisy.

This is my favorite place for breakfast and brunch in Downtown Santa Cruz. The bread is made fresh in-house every day, and you can really taste the difference. Their eggs are local and super fresh, which makes everything feel more homemade.

The chicken is cooked in a style that reminds me of Taiwanese fried chicken cutlets. It’s crispy and full of flavor. I always get the mushroom scramble. It’s my favorite dish. The curry rice is also really good.

The drinks are tasty and not too sweet. I always order the fresh squeezed orange juice. The space is cute, the colors are warm, and the staff is friendly.

If you’re visiting Santa Cruz, definitely come here for breakfast before heading to the beach.

A trendy breakfast spot in downtown Santa Cruz, but the long wait times can be a real pain.

Loaded Tots: Get
Comforting and super tasty. Just a delicious and crispy… omg tots are the most amazing thing ever and this one is loaded with lots of curry and eggs.

Mad Chick Sandwich: GET!!
Just an amazingly juicy fried chicken this is a must get if you come here

Curry Moco: Get
just a beef patty on rice, smothered in Japanese-style curry with a crispy fried egg on top. Hearty and flavorful

The vibe inside is chill and bright with lots of yellow and fun egg-themed decor. It feels fresh but casual, kind of like a cool brunch spot where you can just hang out.

Food’s definitely good but it’s popular for a reason, so expect a wait. Prices are a bit on the higher side too, but worth it if you’re craving this kinda comfort food.
