Phil Trani’s

  4.5 – 529 reviews   • Modern European restaurant

Social Profile:

Established in 1990. Over the years, Trani became very close to many UCLA, USC, and NFL football players and well-known atheletes from other sports. Joe Namath and Yogi Berra used to come to the San Pedro restaurant regularly. When he opened the restaurant in Long Beach in 1990, the athletes started going there almost immediately. I was very glad that, without my even asking them, they decided to continue the tradition, he says. We still have many famous athletes, head coaches, and boxing promoters coming here. I could give you hundreds of names. You can see many of their autographs on the kitchen walls.

Place for European cuisine with Italian flair in a space adorned with famous sports memorabilia.

They are very attentive to your dining needs and requests

I saw a band there. Folks were smiling and having fun.

You know how you go out and get ignored; well you won’t have to worry about that here. They take care of their customers.

I went to see “Corday” and her band perform. It was a magical night.

Check it out!

Impromptu find and walked into the place asking if they did walk-ins. Was greeted with a warm welcome by several staff and sat down instantly.

Food was aweeeesome and there was even live music! When the bread came out, it was extremely soft, warm, & fresh. Trisha was our waitress for the outside patio (amazing service btw). Definitely a consideration for next time when we’re out nearby.

I stopped in hoping to try the mozzarella sticks and try a rack. But after being served my ginger ale I was never attended to again. The space isn’t huge but to not be served or checked on for 32 minutes is unacceptable. I won’t be back.

Newly Remodeled inside and it’s beautiful!!! No more carpet, it’s now hard wood floors… New bar-top of white marble…bar is much brighter, you can now see from one end to the other…all the sports memorabilia is still on the walls…
Sat at the bar…could hear the owner behind me talking sports…

This was my first time here, my family brought my mother and I here for dinner. It really was a treat. The wine was great, food was delicious, and the atmosphere was comfortable. Although dining is as traditional as it normally is, they made the most of it. I had the Ahi Tuna Steak and my mom had the Ribeye. I was most excited to learn that they have homemade pasta. That was definitely something I had to try and I’m so glad that I did. It was so yummy!

First-rate service by lovely ladies at the bar and the dining room. Excellent martinis and chicken dishes. We did notice that they switched to paper napkins instead of cloth but not big deal. The place is still a must if you are in Long Beach.

After arriving from LAX, we stopped at this nearby place for food. It took 10 mins to even be acknowledged and seated. The menu was nothing like the photos and had about 5 options that were completely overpriced. We ended up ordering, then 10 mins later, we were informed they didn’t have one of the 5 options(pot roast). It ended up taking 40 mins for our food, which was small portions and very average tasting. Also nothing about it was European as suggested, just basic american food. The calamari was good tho and the live music, which salvaged a meal with slow service and overpriced food.

This was my first time coming & it me of a dinner spot that I went to in the 70s as a kid. Dim lighting, low ceiling in the bar area that smelled of a million spilled drinks & old men that all know one another & have probably been coming since the 70s.
Now, the food: The steak was really good. Perfectly medium rare & tender. The garlic mashed potatoes were good & the service was great. Reasonably priced as well.
