We went during Mardi Gras so it was of course very busy. The staff, even though running rampant, were still very polite and welcoming. It seemed like everyone enjoyed working there.
So for the food… catfish , gumbo- amazing, drinks- on point. We went for the experience because multiple friends who recently visited recommended it. They didn’t disappoint. I will say, I was least impressed with the chicken. I guess I was expecting more. It was still decent if you like your chicken fried hard. I would definitely return and recommend to others.

Although I was not thrilled with the drink, Everything else was delicious!! The fried chicken and fried okra reminded me of the dinners in the basement of the church after service. Tyler was the hostess with the mostess. We had so much fun with him. Music was just loud enough and atmosphere was pleasant. Busy but no one was stuck up under you. Tony, our server gave great selections for food. Make a reservation!

Caleb provided outstanding customer service during our visit. From the moment we were seated, he was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. He checked in at the perfect times, kept our drinks refilled, and made great recommendations from the menu. Caleb’s positive attitude and professionalism really stood out and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. It’s clear he cares about giving guests excellent service. Thank you, Caleb, for making our visit such a great one!

Everything I tried here was excellent! The fried chicken was on point. The crispness and flavor was superb. The house gumbo looked and taste great as well. The green beans were seasoned perfectly. And the cornbread was good too. I topped it off with the praline and white chocolate bread pudding, which I really enjoyed it. Btw, Jarvis was my server and he was attentive and overall very personable. I would highly recommend and will return when in NOLA.

A two-hour wait time sounds crazy, right? Did it live up to the hype? Heck yeah! Thankfully, if you make reservations in advance, you’ll be fine—it only took us about 15 minutes to get seated.

Our server, Kent, was incredibly sweet and kind, and made us feel well taken care of.

The fried chicken was outstanding—fried to perfection. The crust was light and airy with just the right amount of seasoning and crispiness, without being overly thick. Easily some of the best fried chicken I’ve had in a very long time.

The gumbo was clearly a seafood gumbo, loaded with flavor and plenty of crab. Absolutely delicious. The butter beans and rice were also well seasoned and tasty, and even the cornbread on the side was well made.

The chicken Caesar salad was a bit of a mixed experience. The fried chicken on top was excellent, but the salad itself had too much cheese, and the dressing got lost, making it taste a little dry.

The mac & cheese, however, was on point—we ended up ordering a second serving. The fresh lemonade was also refreshing and good. Everyone left stuffed and happy.

My only small complaint is the portion size of the fried chicken. The two pieces we received were a bit small for the price.

Overall, Willie Mae’s is definitely a must-stop when you’re in New Orleans. Just be sure to make reservations ahead of time so you don’t get stuck waiting.

My soul says yesssssss! This food was so good it made my day! I had a cup of gumbo to start it off. Yummy to my tummy! It had a little kick to it but not too much. Then I had the fried chicken, red beans and rice, cabbage, macaroni and cheese and cornbread. My husband and I ordered the 4 piece plate that comes with one side. This way we could share. Then we order two more sides to share. The sweet tea was just right. All the food we ate was nothing short of superb.

Came in with the wife to try a James Beard award winning item (the chicken). It was for sure that good. Probably the best fried chicken we have had. We werent dissapointed.
Only reason I didnt give a perfect 5 across the board was because the damn server at the bar was drunk and stupid annoying… and they forgot our cornbread and had to ask the other bartender that had just gotten there if he could grab us some, and he seemed to acknowledge the request, but then kept working (stocking the bar for his turnover to come). Dude has a wicked attitude like he didnt want to be there, which isnt my problem. I really could care less as a customer what the beef was between the two bartenders, give me my food when I ask as a customer who is spending their money to eat at your establishment.
The bartender that looks like Nardwar was cool and super chill, but they dude that said he was from like south Carolina or north Carolina needs to go or be checked for being drunk while working. He looked super sloppy and was like spitting while he talked.

Side note, while we waited to be seated, they had a huge mardis gras parade going on right down the street and the restaurant had a live Dj playing music while we ate which was great.

This is a well-known fried chicken place in New Orleans. We booked an appointment at 1 pm but got an earlier seats around 12:30.
Service was very good, so did the food. We like the Chicken wings better because they had more flavor than the fried chicken. Too bad we didn’t get a chance to taste the scotch chicken wings (Maybe it was a Sunday?). We will be back.

Restaurant is very nice, spacious, and elegant Witt nice relaxing jazz music playing in the background. The customer service was extremely great. We had Candy as our server and she was great, who frequently checked up on us. The food was on a whole nother level. The fried chicken was absolutely delicious. The outside of the chicken was crunchy, yet soft. The bite into the chicken desolved easily as the meat was very tender and desolved into the bite followed by the juices of the perfectly cooked chicken. The flavoring was PERFECT! Definitely recommend and I’ll be returning to this establishment.

This restaurant is very popular so definitely make a reservation. The vibes were wonderful with a DJ playing great music and the bar in the center of the restaurant. We ordered a variety of things from the menu included the scotch house wings, crawfish etoufee, fried chicken, and red beans and rice. Everything was fantastic and especially the fried chicken and the wings stood out!
