Stayed at Origin hotel and wandered down for dinner. Man, this place was great! Bartender Derek made me a virgin strawberry mojito that was delightful.

There were so many items on the dinner menu that sounded delicious, but I decided on the shrimp orzo. Shrimp was cooked perfectly and the whole dish was flavorful.

Service, food, and atmosphere were all great.

Show Pony is a standout dining experience nestled along the Berkley Riverfront with scenic views of the CPKC Stadium in the backdrop. The setting alone creates a memorable atmosphere, but it’s the food and drinks that truly shine.

We started with the burrata appetizer—fresh, creamy, and beautifully plated. From there, we tried a wide selection of entrées: the cod, ribeye, lamb shank tacos, and pork cheek. Each dish was excellently prepared and served with thoughtful, flavorful sides that complemented the main proteins perfectly. While we all had our favorites, mine was hands down the pork cheek—tender, rich, and absolutely delicious.

For dessert, we shared the carrot cake and the chocolate ganache. Both were indulgent and satisfying, providing the perfect sweet ending to the meal.

The cocktail menu was just as impressive as the food. Our favorite was the Gallant Fox—an espresso-based cocktail that was smooth, bold, and expertly balanced. It’s a must-try for coffee lovers.

The service was attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall experience without ever feeling rushed. Whether you’re visiting for a special occasion or just looking to enjoy a quality meal in a beautiful location, Show Pony delivers on every level.

Highly recommend this spot for its exceptional cuisine, and relaxed, upscale vibe. It’s one of Kansas City’s gems.

Show Pony was an okay experience, but it felt like the operations weren’t quite in place. The staff was friendly, but the service struggled—likely due to being heavily understaffed. At times, even the chefs had to bring out dishes because there weren’t enough waiters. The food was fine, nothing particularly memorable, and the drinks were decent. That said, some cocktails priced at $22–$24 felt steep, even considering premium liquor options. The space itself is beautifully decorated, but the menu is pretty limited. Overall, not a bad spot, but there’s definitely room for improvement.

Giving it 5 stars because the service and staff were phenomenal! The menu is definitely whimsical and more fine dining-gastronomical so don’t expect huge portions. We got a bunch of different dishes and were a fan of the pork cheek/grits dish as well as the bolognese pasta, wow.

We didn’t really care for the desserts, the carrot cake was dry and the icing was too sweet so I’d skip that. Really great upscale spot for drinks and dinner for a date and just hang out with friends!

Show Pony was a really nice experience! This was our choice for restaurant week and I’m glad we went. Some dishes were better than others, but I see real charm and potential here.

First impressions: the atmosphere is nice, not too casual and not too formal. The service was VERY friendly and I felt our server did a fantastic job describing the dishes and giving recommendations. There was also someone else who seemed very knowledgeable on the wines to give my wife a great recommendation based on her preference. Everyone was great.

For my selections from the restaurant week menu:
We started with the milk bread. This was really a basic roll to me with pretty standard butter. I was pretty disappointed that this was a $10 add on given the bland flavor profile.

The arancini was cooked very well. I enjoyed it but wish there was more thought into the flavor on the inside.

The Cacio e Pepe was very good!

My main was the Ocean Blue Cobia. Wow, what a creative dish! I’ve never had anything like it so I really appreciated that and the presentation was great.

Overall, we had a good experience! Some area for improvement on flavor but I’m definitely rooting for them and would come back to try more of their food.

This restaurant opened in November and we visited on New Year’s Eve. We had a wonderful time in every way. The decor is upscale casual with very large windows throughout. There is a very large bar with a wall of television screens and a skee ball machine. The bar area opens easily into the lobby of the hotel. Our server was very personable and attentive. He made great suggestions and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered a very interesting fried cheese appetizer to share. It was one of the most interesting dishes I have ever eaten, with many different textures and flavors. We both ordered the pork cheeks over grits. It was probably the most tender pork we have ever eaten. There is a very large patio area that will be fantastic. In warmer weather. The entire establishment overlooks, the Missouri river and the new women’s soccer stadium. We love the location and can’t wait to bring our adult children to eat here with us.

The OpenBlue Cobia was soft and flavorful, and the rutabaga, Swiss chard, and leek gave it a nice mix of earthy and fresh tastes. The mulled wine sauce added a warm, slightly sweet flavor that tied everything together perfectly. The Southern Pork Cheek was incredibly tender and paired really well with the creamy Low Country grits. The confit-stuffed apple gave the dish a little bit of sweetness, and the red wine demi-glace added a rich, smooth finish. Both dishes showed great creativity and balance, making the meal at Show Pony unforgettable.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Where do I start?!
The atmosphere here is always warm and inviting—perfect for a chill night out with friends. The food was so incredible we had to send our compliments straight to the chef!

Do yourself a favor and order the mushrooms and Brussels sprouts—they’re unforgettable. My babe had the mac and cheese with meat, and let’s just say the bowl was spotless by the end.

The people are wonderful, the service is top-notch, and the prices are more than fair. This place nails the balance of great food, great vibes, and great company. Highly recommend!

Lovely casual little restaurant with a nice outdoor space. Started with the Greta cocktail, tasty and not overly sweet. We shared the Pakora Fritter – you get 4 and they were crispy and unique with the chutney in them. The labneh is like a creamy yogurt almost cream cheese. Also ordered the Tortellini and I really loved the flavor of the sauce. My preference would be to cook one more minute on them but they were not too al dente. We had the Cobia, which I would say the white fish is similar to a cod fish. It was wrapped in seaweed but a soft texture to bite into. The fish is mild. We ended with the Chocolate Ganache dessert. The ganache and gelato work together so well, very delicious! The Chocolate Pavlova was a bit too hard. Staff and service were great. I suspect the menu changes often but I like how they incorporate different cultures of food. Plenty of parking.
