So to continue my coffee house journey, I visited Rooted Coffee with my daughter this morning. It was a bit of a drive at about 50 minutes, but I will make that drive many more times I’m certain! Loved the atmosphere and the quiche was AMAZING! This one was so far the best! The Matcha Latte was so good but I can’t wait to try other things as well. My daughter got the pumpkin bread and it was delicious and her Chai was just right. Absolutely wonderful.

We did not expect to have to stay the night in Ste. Gen, but when looking for a coffee shop with food the next morning — we had no idea that the town is a major historic place. Rooted Coffee – Google Maps was the guide. And it was one of the best local, non-chain coffee places we have found on our travels.

How good? Start with the coffee. If a place can’t do that well…

In my book, want to know how the local coffee shop really shows its quality? The coffee is so well sourced, roasted, and balanced that no sweetener is needed, just some cream. That’s Rooted Coffee. Speaking with the owner, they’re careful where they get their coffee.

They had a good assortment of pastries and savories. From looking at the place, they must source food items from elsewhere. They’re supposed to be known for good quiches — a tried the sausage one. Yes, it was really good, very filling for the day’s adventures.

We had to set up laptops to work some. It was just fine for doing that, wall socket near the table, good wi-fi.

Good enough that it’s worth having as a base for a future visit to explore town more than we had time for.

Finally, a good cup of coffee!! I just had the Peru pour over. It was a wonderfully roasted bean with all sorts of simple and complex flavors alike.

Also, their quiche is pretty darn good. Creamy, light, and cheesy with a delicate crust to hold in all the eggy goodness.

I was very pleasantly surprised by how good the Americano was (probably the best one I’ve ever had!), and my partner’s French Madeline latte was also one of the better latte’s I’ve tasted. This is a gem of a shop!

Taylor was very sweet, and her shop was absolutely beautiful! The spinach quiche was cheesy and delicious, and our coffee hit the spot. We will definitely be back for more! ☕️

This coffee shop used to be great back when Shannon owned the business & it was known as Beanik.

My partner and I came back after having our first date here two years ago, before the ownership changed. Absolute worst coffee I’ve ever paid for, and incredibly over priced.

We both ordered lattes that were then made with an aero press knock off (as opposed to the working espresso machine behind the counter). My partner’s coffee was basically hot milk with a splash of weak bean water – gas station drip coffee would have been better. The new owners tweaked the quiche recipe too and it was bland, plus the sausage was dry.

The bathroom was nasty & the toilet had a fuzzy ring, no paper towels either. The trashcan in the cafe was already over-flowing, and we came hours before closing.

Not to mention, the new owners took all of the building’s character by painting the shop beige & removing most of the art work. This place is obviously being managed by young 20-somethings who have no idea how to run a business & are just girl-bossing their way through life. I have no doubt this place would be trash if it hadn’t been purchased as a turn-key cafe & re-branded.
