Food was perfectly delicious and hit the spot! No complaints there, very satisfying. The food also came out really fast so that was sooo nice! We got the fresh fish of the day, the fried green tomatoes, the spinach feta salad and they were fantastic! The vibe was also really great except they could do with an extra screen on the top deck plus a fan – the sun and heat were simply stifling and killed our appetite when the breeze died.

Our waitress also seemed to forget about us every time – it took 10 minutes for her to greet our table, an extra 5 to get water, and then forever to get our check (everyone else had sat down, eaten, and gotten their check while we were waiting). Waiting so much for the waitress plus the heat just put such a damper on the meal.

High end food in Corolla. The absolute best calamari I’ve ever had. Hush puppies are amazing. All dishes are prepared with super fresh food. They also have daily drink specialties that are made with fresh ingredients. Excellent location with a nice bar to relax while waiting for a table. Service is top notch, very attentive staff. Smaller location so plan ahead for a group. They don’t take reservations so we stood in line about 15 minutes before opening with a few beers from the bar next door.

Ok overall, nice experience for dinner. We were there first in line at 5:30 pm. We were seated right away. We enjoyed sitting on the outside patio. The prices are a little high as I ordered a Caesar salad with shrimp and I was given 4 shrimp for a $9 upcharge so I felt that was a bit much. The calamari was very chewy but it always is for me, so I figured that it was just me (& my family) the margaritas were good, service was ok. Steak was prepared well and crab cakes too.

Nothing short of 5 stares here! Outdoor dining upstairs on the deck on a perfect night. We each had a delicious beverage to start along with an appetizer to share. Best fried green tomatoes we’ve ever had!
Then dinner….Southern Seafood Boil served over grits was excellent. Very tasty but not heavy. The shrimp and scallop dish over pesto pasta was also a great choice.

No room for dessert but we brought home the key lime pie for later. Wow!

Food was ok, everything came with home made potato chips, which were just ok, i had the fried chicken sandwhich which was great, though wife had the crab cake which wasn’t great, not a lot of crab in it or flavor, and small, the hush puppies weren’t great either and very over priced as you only get a couple of them. The staff was fantastic though. There seems to be pretty limited inside seating, there is outside seating with ceiling fans. Over the food was just ok, a bit over priced honestly.

We got there at 5:40 on a Thursday and didn’t have to wait long for a patio table. Our server unfortunately had a large party before us, and though it was fine at the start, at the end we had a long wait and had to flag down a different server. The other severs seemed very attentive, so my guess is the large party was to blame, though the waiting did get frustrating.

The food is amazing. We had the crab cakes and tuna, and would get both again. The beach breeze and water views were a nice touch, surprisingly hard to find in Corolla.

It’s not hard to rack up a hefty bill, but the food aims to meet the price.

This was our first time trying this restaurant. The wait was about an hour during the busy season but they have a decent call ahead system where you can walk around the local area until your table is ready. The seating up top has a great view and it’s very breezy. The mixed drinks were good and the salads were good as well. However my fried fish was bone dry and the bread was stale as was the bread on another sandwich. That was a little disappointing.

Edit (6/14/24): Y’all!! I regret my last review. First, service is still 10/10. But y’all. Y’ALL. The lobster quesadilla? GET IT. It’s a delight. The thing I can’t get over is a short rib ragout (sp?). I will be dreaming about this for years to come. Our amazing waitress, Veronica, guided our decisions, so make sure to ask you server! They will NOT steer you wrong. On top of that, the bartender, Selah, made to most incredible Watermelon margarita. This is an experience for the books. The old review is still left below, but this visit MORE than made up for it. Get down here ASAP; I can’t rave this place enough and look forward to our trip next year already!

Wildly over-priced. $9 add-on for shrimp on ceasar salad for 5 shrimps is pretty rough, especially when they come overcooked; I actually got that and the chicken add-on, which while cheaper, was also worse (dry, shredded, and a miniscule amount for the charge). Staff is incredibly friendly, though, and the drinks are fine.

Go with someone who’s been there before and stick to what they order. The crab-cakes are a favorite of my fiancé’s, but I wasn’t so keen on them. Just be prepared to spend money, and maybe ask your server for recommendations.

We really enjoyed the Upside restaurant, the food was delicious. We enjoyed some drinks at the bar while we waited on a table. It is a pretty small dining area but the view outside is beautiful. The fried green tomatoes, hush puppies, and lobster quesadilla were delicious appetizers.

On our weekend getaway we stopped in for dinner service and took an outdoor table on the upper deck. What’s nice is when getting seating they tell you the open table and where it’s located and ask if you want it. We opted for it so we could see the views. Isn’t that why we visit the OBX? If you go as soon as they open for dinner you won’t wait long for a table, however, if you wait until later, the wait time stacks up.
Our family of four ordered the hush puppies and fried green tomatoes for appetizers. The hush puppies weren’t spicy but pleasant heat and flavor. They were cooked well but very dense and a bit dry. The cinnamon butter, I say cinnamon since it was the dominant flavor, was interesting with the peppered hush puppies. We just opted to eat the puppies without the butter. They tomatoes were well coated. And the coating was crisp fried. This have the outside a nice crunch. The tomatoes inside were soft and on the squishy side. I prefer my fried tomatoes on the firm side. The pimento cheese spread had a nice heat to it for pimento spread but it was a bit thick so it lended to the tomato feeling squishier. I wouldn’t order either appetizer again. They weren’t awful but they just didn’t appeal texturally and nothing absolutely standout to just make your mouth water so you dream about and make you want to come back.
It was the end of a warm day so most of us got salads. I got the berry pecan salad. I skipped the pecans. The Dijon vinaigrette was a standout dressing. Just enough to dress the salad without making anything swim. The fruit was fresh and popped in your mouth. The cheese was the perfect touch. There was enough to have a bit in every bite. Daughter got the chop salad and added chicken with the dressing on the side. And hubs got the upside salad with shrimp. The chicken and shrimp were perfectly done and full of flavor. These were excellent salads as well. You can order half or whole portions. We also got a kids chicken basket. They don’t have fries but chips. They’re chips are nice and crisp. Excellent crunch and will seasoned. But if you’re looking for fries, not going to happen. For us not a deal breaker, we’re an equal opportunity potato eater but I know for some fries are a must. I also got a raspberry lemonade margarita. I love a good drink and for someone I think this would be. I found it a bit too tart. Maybe a bit too lemonade like and less margarita like.
Now service here was super. They put a water carafe on your table for you to keep your glasses full, which makes perfect sense when you have a multi level building. But despite all the running our server had to do we were never neglected. Our did came out quickly and our meal was well paced. We had time to eat our appetizers without feeling rushed, yet we didn’t have to wait for the dinner plates after finishing the apps. So the kitchen staff obviously works well with the wait staff. That shows they have some good management getting everyone on the same page. I appreciate that. There were some other menu others that we want to try so this is on the revisit list.
