This is about 1hr away from us but it never disappoints. Being on the water while having lunch or dinner is so relaxing. The service is great & they make sure everything is just how you ordered it. The food is some of the best I’ve had. Bacon Cheeseburgers are delicious, Fish Sandwich’s are yummy but the hush puppies are my favorite!! My daughter enjoyed her BLT (no T) as well! I’ve never been when a band was playing but I’m sure it can only add to the enjoyment. I frequent as many times as I can but this was the first trip with my daughters & they loved it!

Celebrating my nephew’s 16th birthday we loaded up our family (and his girlfriend) and headed south to Madison, Indiana— the historic small town nestled on the banks of the Ohio River.

Our first stop was Madison Lighthouse Restaurant & Bar for lunch. This was our first time there and we sat in the covered section with a great view of the river.

We ordered:

Cheese Curds
Hushpuppies
Fried Pickles
Tenderloin and Tots
BLT and Chips
Boneless Wings in Thai Sweet Chili
Small House Salad
Grilled Cheese and Onion Rings
Cheeseburger and Fries
Chicken Tender Basket

The food was pretty basic. Nothing particularly stood out as being above average. The fried items were on the darker side, indicating fry oil that was past its prime. The tenderloin was a fritter and unfortunately oil-logged.

My boneless wings appeared to be tenders cut into thirds and sauced. I liked the Thai Sweet Chili Sauce. Aside from the tenderloin everything was edible, but didn’t quite meet the standard we’d come to expect from other Madison restaurants.

I admittedly did experience some sticker shock from the bill. At $150 + tip I didn’t feel the price matched the food. Not only were entree prices already high, but substituting hot sides for chips came with a full $4 up-charge, making some meals over $20. Extra sauces were $1 a cup. Add to that a 4% surcharge for not using cash and we ended up paying quite a premium for what equated to snack bar food.

Service was attentive and we had multiple servers taking great care of us. They were even kind enough to give my nephew a (non-alcoholic) ‘birthday shot’!

The weather was fantastic and we all enjoyed eating right on the water. But in the future I think we’ll trade the water view for the quality of the food we’ve experienced on Main Street.

Had lunch here today, 5/18/25. The fish basket meal was delicious. Service was top notch. And we couldn’t ask for a more beautiful day on the river. I don’t understand why there are any negative reviews. My first time today. Will definitely return!!

Had a great experience at Madison Lighthouse Restaurant & Bar! We sat in the bar section, which was perfect… it gave us a beautiful view of the river while we ate. The vibe was super relaxed, and it’s the kind of place where you can go casual or a bit fancy depending on your mood.

I love that the menu has a mix of simple, classic meals and more elevated options. I went with the BLT sandwich meal — nothing too fancy, but it was done just right and only $9. Sometimes the basics, when done well, really hit the spot. Fresh, satisfying, and no complaints at all.

I was so happy to see they sell non-alcoholic beer for those that want to enjoy the taste without the buzz. Not a lot of places have that option.

I’ll definitely be going back — whether for a chill lunch with a view or to try one of their fancier entrees next time!

Everything was awesome. Little bit of a wait but worth it! The scenery on the river is one of the best!

Great view! Food just okay and that might even be a stretch! Out of burgers, chicken tenders, chips and Pepsi! Waitress was super friendly and sweet! LONG wait for warm draft beer and even LONGER wait for food!! Honestly took almost an hour for food! Waitress said only one person in kitchen – so perhaps she was new?? Other diners got their food before us, but arrived after us …. party of six waited longer than us, but they were there before us!! Apparently long wait unless you order fish?? French fries tasted like fish oil OR old grease! Love the view but could have sat on a bench along the river with take out just as easily!!

If you just want to go drink this place is good. It’s on the water but the food isn’t the best and the service sucks .

My husband and I came on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn’t crowded at all. We sat right by the water and had a beautiful view. Our server was friendly and attentive.. The food wasn’t anything to write home about, but the side salad was surprisingly large and fresh! They were out of quite a few menu items like burgers and chicken, though. My husband’s fish did feel over-fried, but the view and the ambiance were worth it for sure. We didn’t get any drinks, but we felt like the food wasn’t too overpriced.

The absolute worst food my husband and I have ever eaten at the most ridiculous prices. 2 chicken sandwichiches. My sandwich was sitting in the soggiest dill pickles. The entire bottom of my bun was nothing but much that I threw away. Half order of tater tots that were drizzled with a little bit of something and fake bacon bits. 2 sandwiches. 1/2 tots and 1 tea and a diet coke $50…. When we got back to the hotel the desk clerk asked us where we went, when I told her where, he eyes got huge and she said WE NEVER EVER RECOMMEND that place!!!!
If you want to sit on the water, then go.
Day after Chautauqua. The weather was beautiful

My Wife and I got the 13.00 burger. Wanted fully dressed. Charged 2.08 for the dressed, .52 for the mayo. Upgraded to onion rings and fries. 4.42 up charge. So that made it a 20.00 burger and fries. Waitress never said anything about a dressed charge. The meat was a low grade frozen hamburger patty which was soggy and made the bun soggy. My onion rings, I could squeeze grease out of them. Asked to switch out for fries. Not much better. At least I know now where not to eat here in Madison.
