Had the French toast latte and chocolate croissant. Very good flavor and blend of coffee. Croissant was served warm. It was flaky and delicious. Atmosphere was really charming with vintage furniture. Definitely would recommend!

Our coffee ☕️ expedition today took us to @PennyRoseCoffeeCo in #NewtonNJ . It is on the main drag which is Spring St. It’s a charming storefront coffee shop with outdoor seating in better weather. It’s very roomy inside. We had some seasonal lattes and a scone that was the size of a personal pizza slice. @jackie_and_steve1986 #PennyRoseCoffeeCo

This was a very pleasant experience. My top-tier chum and I stopped by this past Sunday afternoon for a little pick-me-up and a palate cleanser after a mediocre lunch down the street. I was a little startled when I walked in; it almost felt like a warehouse or something – there is a TON of empty, unutilized space in Pennyrose and despite music playing in the background, it’s almost too quiet. There’s a few upholstered pink chairs throughout the establishment, but mostly it’s just square footage to roam around in. Not much of a ding if at all, but they definitely could use a little more furniture in here to make it more comfortable. Easy problem to fix – just hit up a few estate sales and you’re golden.

My chum (this is what chums are for) noticed that they had rose flavoring, which is my absolute favorite; why lavender is getting so much traction in the floral genre is beyond me. I ordered a rose latte with skim, and it was very tasty. The barista told me because it was a hot latte that it had to be a size large (not clear why) but perfectly fine by me on a nippy, overcast November afternoon straight out of Folklore. Perfect amount of rose without being overwhelming and really hit the spot. I also grabbed an intriguing looking blueberry lemon iced scone. Also really good though one corner of the scone had too many blueberries so I avoided that, but that’s a total palate preference on my end. Would absolutely gnaw on that again.

The service was excellent. Beyond receiving pretty much a dictionary definition perfect latte, the barista just let us hang out by the front window for a few hours people watching. Coffee houses SHOULD be communal spaces to just chill out in for a while, so if it had been an issue that’s end game for me, but we both felt very welcomed and easily could have lingered for a while more but SOMEone (cough cough chum cough cough) needed to buy soy candles in Lafayette or something. So it goes.

Just a little more interior decorating, and I think you really have something here.

What a great find for my Sunday morning wander. The Americana coffee is smooth and well balanced. The 3 kinds of crossants we had were heavenly. The muffin was too. An added bonus is coffee roasting and wheat grinding are local. There is a comfortable window seating area and café tables as well. I will definitely return.

I asked for two breakfast sandwiches, not only were they microwaved which I didn’t expect in a fancier type of cafe… I ordered before two more customers and instead of just taking care of our sandwiches she served the other customers their coffees and orders that also needed to be warmed up, they left and we were still waiting. I had to wait over 20 minutes for a microwaved sandwich. I could’ve just gone to Dunkin’ Donuts for the same quality of food but with better service. I spent over $30 for two bacon egg cheese croissants, a decaf coffee and a bottle of water… unreal… will never come back and highly recommend you don’t even bother – just go to Dunkin for breakfast for the same type of food just cheaper. Very disappointed.

I got an iced caramel latte with cold foam it was AMAZING. It was the first time i ever had a scone and I could not believe how warm and crumbly it was…and the blueberries were huge 10/10 . I can’t wait to go back for a Boston cream crossiant and I’ll definitely be bringing a book for the free little library!

The offerings were consistent with other coffee shops. Staff a bit lackluster, no pleasantries waiting on guests. No one in cafe, all tables and floor had tons of crumbs. While staff (gentleman) is leaning on counter on cell phone. The other employee was cleanining dishes and machines. Playing heavy metal music??? I like heavy metal but is that the vibe?

I just went to Penny Rose for the first time this morning after having what seemed one of the worst mornings I’ve had in a long time and I was greeted by two girls that were so kind and made my day. I got a bacon egg and cheese croissant and the strawberry Fields Matcha latte And both were absolutely delicious. I’m writing this review because of how kind the staff was it reminded me that there are good people in the world thank you girls. I will be recommending this place to everybody.

Great to have a coffee shop in Newton. Came in with high hopes but left disappointed.
Staff was apathetic. Got an iced latte with honey in it, which was on the very bottom of the cup, and never blended because it wasn’t warm.
I thought when I ordered it, they would’ve blended the honey in and poured it over ice but no such luck. No flavor except bitter. I threw it out
