Sustainable sushi & modern Japanese fare are matched by a robust drink list at this polished eatery.

Overall, the food was okay, but the experience was slightly disappointing due to the service. While the fish quality was fine, there was a noticeable lack of engagement from the staff.
For example, we ordered the “Toyosu Special,” which is one of the more unique offerings on the menu. However, it was served without any explanation of what the fish were. When ordering a special selection like that, part of the satisfaction comes from knowing what you are eating. Simply placing the plate on the table and leaving felt impersonal.
The atmosphere reminded me of a typical Japanese restaurant you might find in a smaller town or a touristy area—functional, but lacking a certain refined touch. If the service becomes more attentive and informative, the overall satisfaction would improve significantly.

I ordered the Salmon Bento Box for takeout. The bento came with miso soup, salad, shrimp tempura, California rolls, rice, and salmon. Overall, the food was good, with one clear exception: the salmon.
The rice was packed in what appeared to be a 16 oz container, which was more than enough. Everything else in the bento was fresh and enjoyable. The salmon was not in its own container. It was placed in the same container as the shrimp tempura and the sauces. When I opened it, the salmon portion immediately stood out as very small and looked dry.
Given the size of the salmon, the portioning felt unbalanced compared to the amount of rice provided. For a meal that cost about $20, the salmon portion was disappointing. To be direct, they played in my face with that small piece of salmon.
That said, I did like the atmosphere, and the staff was more than welcoming and friendly. I am willing to give the restaurant another try and dine in next time to see if this was a fluke, and I would also like to try some of their other menu items.
The overall food quality was good, but the salmon portion in this bento missed the mark.

The food was fantastic, excellent flavor combinations that were very unique in the value was really quite amazing. I ordered more than enough food on a dinner for two and I spent $82 with drinks. Very highly recommend, I did have to book reservations out a little bit so be aware that you may or may not get a seat if you just show up!

We didn’t know that we needed to book omakase ahead of time but luckily they had an opening for two. We didn’t really have much expectations going in but the food and service were both great! Would recommend trying their omakase for sure!

My fiancé and I booked the Omakase experience for Valentine’s Day and were served by Scott. We love to splurge on a great dining experience for holidays or sentimental events and this was beyond our expectations. The fish was fresh, the flavors were so well curated, our chef was so knowledgeable and quick, and our server, Rachel was also amazing. We left feeling full and having tried so many amazing dishes. Truly a one-of-a-kind experience and we are so excited to come back and try all of their other food offerings. We sincerely appreciate everything! Arigatou gozaimasu!

This was, by far, the best Wagyu steak I’ve had outside Japan. The presentation with the salt variety and the fresh wasabi was PERFECT. Sushi is amazing and fresh and the cocktails (yuzu lemon drop) were all phenomenal. Service and atmosphere are great – one of our favorite date night spots in Portland!

Came here for my friend’s birthday dinner and left very satisfied. They were able to seat us quickly even though my buddy messed up and made a reservation for 1 person instead of 2. Our server was very sweet and attentive and kept our drinks filled! The fish was all very fresh. We were most impressed by the Wagyu nigiri. Spendy for 2 pieces but well worth the $22, I have not stopped thinking about how flavorful that bite was and it has been a week now! The atmosphere was very nice. Definitely make a reservation as they get very busy. We spent around $245 for two people but we decided to be extravagant. You could spend about half of that and leave satisfied if you order strategically.

While looking for fun spots to enjoy a bite and food for our group of 7 to have an impromptu reunion with old friends, we came across this delightful gem. MOMOyama! They were nice enough to take a reservation and had a large booth, perfectly suited to our group. The booth seating is great and provides a nice barrier for sound and privacy for a group to enjoy conversations and laughs without distractions or disturbing neighbors.
They have a great selection of appetizers and we opted for a whole bottle of their cold Nigori Sake which was delicious!
We had an amazing range of sushi selections and their lobster roll
Was super yummy! We tried the Ikura/uni noodles which was tasty and we also had the AGE Tofu and their crispy chicken appetizer and a range of sushi’s and sashimi.
Definitely recommend coming here for sushi and the rolls are diverse and delicious and lots of pieces, great for sharing.
They have some super good signature cocktails and a fun selection of themed and inspired drinks with an Asian flare. One cocktail had a fried shishito pepper on top which was a fun garnish.
When you are in the market for sushi, want to find easy parking, and like a restaurant close to a small green square/park. I definitely recommend a stop in at MomoYama.
Cheers to MOMOyama for the great dining experience!
Thank you for reading my honest review and Happy Dining!!

We love good sushimi and have had some really great experiences, but so far this is tops! We had the tuna toro flight, Salmon and Salmon toro, and for fun the Tuna tower. All so fresh and tasty.
Do make a reservation if you don’t want to wait. We chose to sit at the sushi bar and they had a place already set up for us. Service was spot on, staff friendly and attentive. We most definitely will return!
