Visited Kibou on a recent Oxford trip and honestly — what a lovely experience from start to finish. The moment you walk in, the space sets the tone: stylish, vibrant, and effortlessly Insta-worthy without feeling overdone. Perfect for a date night, a relaxed catch-up, or even a polished informal meeting.
We were looked after beautifully — attentive, warm service without hovering, which always earns extra points from me. The cocktails were genuinely fantastic (balanced, well-crafted, and dangerously easy to drink). Food-wise, there’s plenty to love, especially for vegetarians: the dynamite cauliflower was bold and addictive, veg sushi was fresh and neatly done, and the veg tempura was light and crisp. We also tried scallops (cooked just right), comforting ramen, miso soup, and a seafood miso that had real depth. Desserts sealed the deal — the chocolate tart and tiramisu were both indulgent and spot-on.
One small practical tip for visitors: if you’re driving into Oxford, be mindful of the traffic restrictions / low-emission zones — I wasn’t fully aware beforehand, so worth checking in advance.
All in all, a brilliant dining experience and absolutely one that comes straight from the bucket of Your Food Fantasy. Would happily return — and recommend without hesitation.

Had a fab dinner here tonight for my mum’s birthday. We were offered the private room due to a cancellation, which felt really special. Callum’s service was exceptional – he was really attentive and gave us fantastic recommendations. Food was amazing. 10/10

We booked a table for 2 on Christmas eve. We were sat at the conservatory at the back. We didn’t have to wait long for the food which was very well presented and tasty. The wagyu donburi took ages though to come to the table. But I thoroughly enjoyed it. The katsu chicken went down very well.
Our waiter was aloof but prompt and attentive.
The restaurant has very beautiful and stylish decor and the location is excellent. We will definitely return.

We had the most amazing evening here. Our first time at Kibou to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The staff were beyond helpful – they explained the menu and talked us through recommendations of what to order. We even received complimentary glasses of champagne and dessert. Everything we ordered tasted so fresh and delicious. We would absolutely visit again.

We had to wait 10-15 mins for our reservation and got seated in the middle of a busy room with music blasting above us. We saw other people getting the menu explained to them and they were offered prosecco as a thank you for waiting – we didn’t get any of this nice treatment. The sushi was fresh but tasted very average, a bit bland even. Overall, this restaurant didn’t live up to expectations, especially considering we paid over £100 per person. There are many other places in this super high price range which offer a better experience. (Drinks were good though)

I came to Kibou to celebrate my birthday with my friend, we were served by Cristian who was very funny and welcoming, however not too over the top. Our food was delicious and we tried a large variety of food which was all fantastic and arrived promptly after ordering too. The additional complimentary birthday services were incredible and I couldn’t reccomend this restaurant enough. Kibou will definitely be seeing me again!

Superb! We loved everything that we ordered, but the karaage was amazing; as was the dynamite cauliflower. The decor is cool. The staff were attentive but not over the top. Good value for money. No complaints at all. We’ll be coming back!

Couldn’t have been better!! Had a lovely 3 course meal with cocktails to accompany We celebrated a special meal and even got a free dessert with sparklers and a Polaroid picture. They made the time super special and even when we stayed later to chat they were kind and didn’t kick us out. The food was 10/10, perfect mix of flavours and cooked to perfection. Our server Mighty was kind and quick to serve. Alongside Christian who finished serving us and took the Polaroid. Will be back!!

Kibou was incredible! We came here for my sisters birthday and there was a large group of us, the waitress was fab and super accommodating! Everything we all ordered was amazing – I loved the wagyu gyoza and tuna ceviche and ramen!
