Since we started baking in our small basement bakery in 1999, we’ve had one goal: to bake the best tasting breads, cakes and pastries.

Shilla in Centreville is pretty good by itself compared to the overwhelmingly too-sweet American counterparts in the area. However, there are so many Korean competitions in the DMV that it really cannot stand out. Is it bad? Not at all. There are just so many great places, it pales in comparison.

I usually pick up custard cream-filled pastries. They taste great and are my favorite. If you want cake, you talk to the staff, and they are generally very helpful. If you don’t know what cake to get, I’d recommend trying the smaller slices. The interior decor is a little worn out since this place has been around for a while. Decor is below average. Food is average, I’d say.

Shilla Bakery in Centreville has a nostalgic charm that you don’t find in many of the newer, trendier bakeries. It’s been around for a while, and that “classic” atmosphere actually adds to its appeal. The pastries and breads taste like home-style baking — simple, fresh, and comforting.

It may not look as modern as some of the newer spots, but that’s exactly what makes it special. You can feel the history and authenticity here, and the quality has stayed consistent over time. Definitely a place worth visiting if you want a taste of classic Korean bakery style.

Shilla bakery never disappoints! We got the bingsoo and it was very delicious and they put a ton of toppings. I also love the prepackaged breads. We also got the boba and the bobas were very delicious and chewy. The prices are a little high but the great quality makes up for it.

Shilla Bakery is one of the oldest Korean bakeries in the DMV area, with several outlets throughout the region. This location focuses on classic pastries and baked goods rather than the more trendy offerings elsewhere. The selection is solid and reflective of classic recipes, though it may not be considered extraordinary. The interior is spacious and welcoming, albeit with a more understated decor. The service is satisfactory, contributing to an overall pleasant experience.

I was really looking forward to visiting this bakery, but unfortunately the overall experience fell short. While the baked goods themselves were decent, the cleanliness of the space was concerning. The floors were extremely worn, scratched, and visibly dirty, which made the entire place feel neglected.
For a bakery, cleanliness and presentation matter just as much as taste, and this environment made it hard to fully enjoy the visit. With better upkeep and attention to maintenance, this place could be much more inviting.

Shilla Patisserie Cafe in Centreville offers a unique selection of Korean-style baked goods and cafe fare. They’re a local pioneer, having been one of the first Korean bakeries in the area. While the decor might have a more traditional feel, it provides a charming backdrop to explore unfamiliar flavors.

The pastries themselves are delicious, though perhaps not the most cutting-edge creations you’ll find. However, if you’re looking for something different from your typical American bakery offerings, Shilla Patisserie hits the spot.

Shilla Patisserie is ideal if you’re in the neighborhood and craving a Korean pastry and coffee fix. However, the slightly dated ambiance and familiar pastry styles might not warrant a long trek across town.

If I have a few minutes and a book with me, this is one of my go-to places for some good coffee and pastries to go with my reading. Reasonable prices and a great variety of baked and other tasty treats. Looking forward to the new location in Vienna, VA …

Like other Shilla Paisseries this one did not disappoint us.
On a HOT summer day Bingsoo with Mango was a perfect to cool us down.
Ample of seating.
Staff was super friendly and helped us understand unique desert choices.
Bakery as always is one of my favorite to take home goodies.

Decided to stop by for dessert after eating in the area. We came an hour into closing and we were surprised the number of people still here! I have been coming her for years and the ambiance has not changed much since. Even towards the end of the day, they still had a number of bread and pastries. We got a pasty, bingsoo and a brewed coffee. I appreciate how they offer brewed coffee at this time. While it’s not too special, mostly every other cafe and bakery only have espresso based drinks after 3pm or so.

I have noticed the pastry and some of the breads were kind of dense, but it was towards the end of the night. While it is not a new as some of the other cafes, it was still a good way to end the night, with dessert, coffee and good company.

This place serves the bingsoo the old fashion way using shaved ice whereas other bakery locations serve shaved condensed milk type. Taste is a personal preference but served in more traditional bingsoo with ice can be desirable at times. Younger generations these days may prefer Tou*** or Par*** more and older generations may enjoy more quieter environment for coffee and desserts.
