I love this restaurant. The 50s theme is really cool with the murals and old school link chairs. The staff was courteous, and our waitress did a great job. The JBB burger was great. I loved it all the fixings, chili, onion, and sauce. Highly recommend. My wife and her cosun got the cheese steak. They weren’t impressed by it, although I thought it was tasty. They didn’t like that it wasn’t grilled. They wanted a little more charred taste. The kids meal come in a cool cardboard box unless they opt for a scoop of ice cream. Interesting options. My daughter had a strawberry shake that was just the right amount of thickness and flavor. We did eat right after a day at the beach, so I could have just been hungry, but I think the food was excellent.

Went in for some food with my family. They were out of half the stuff we asked for. I wanted chicken tenders and fries they were out of both. Then we were talking about the possibility of getting a banana split. They are out of bananas. I get ordering only what you need but you shouldn’t be running out and if you do you need to adjust your ordering practices. The food and service we did get were good it’s just not a good look to be out of half of what someone wants to order

Only gave a 2 stars because the lovely lady that took my order was courteous and kind. Everything else deserves 1 star. The manager, or who I think is the manager stood on his phone the entire time. Then went back to help on the grill without washing hands . My milkshake was 2/3 full and the rest whip cream.

This is the worst highway 55 I’ve ever been to. It’s clear that they leave children in charge and that is why things are so bad. She tried to fill my large drink up 2/3 of the way, my order total was supposedly $12 and she asked me if I wanted change out of a 20??? I’m sorry but why would I tip you $8 for a takeout order, especially when you couldn’t even get it right!! all I asked for was no mustard, not only did the burger have mustard but it was put together sloppily. When she only handed me $6 back for change I asked why and she said oh sorry I forgot to add tax to your total. Also I was the only customer in there so it’s not like they had the excuse of being busy I greeted the employees when I came in and received rude starri from one of the girls. Save your money and go to McDonald’s!

One of my favorite places for a delicious burger but unfortunately most of the HWY 55’S in Wilmington have closed. I happened to be in Castle Hayne so I could not miss opportunity to eat here, I have never been to this one. Very friendly staff. There was sign posted on door to please be patient they have long waits for food but was not the case at all. Food came out and was hot and delicious. I ordered steak and cheese today, don’t recall ever having before. It was really good.

It was decent. Expect service from a couple of teenagers who don’t care much. They might get the order right but they’re not professionals. As with anywhere you go some servers are better than others..
I am not thrilled with the cleanliness. From my table I could see the cooks eating behind the grill. Their sanitation score is a 90. The bathrooms are DISGUSTING. See my picture of the sink, it’s not comfortable. If that’s their level of hygeine, what are they doing with your food…?

Going down hill quick. Took 10 minutes to get our drinks ordered and then another 15 to get them to the table.
Ordered our food at 12:30 and it was after 1pm before it was on the bar. It sat there so long the fries got cold. No one ever came to refill the drinks, the milkshake that was ordered never came and when brought to their attention at checkout, the girl said “Okay, I won’t charge you for it” with a smart attitude.
Really sad, used to like going here when it opened, we ate here 2 or 3 times a week. Now I wait 3 or 4 months before going and it keeps getting worse….

the food was delicious, and i enjoyed the decorations. however, the service wasn’t great. my family and i sat and ordered our food, and they gave us our burgers before our fries and made us wait roughly 20 minutes after our burgers to even get our fries. we were the only people of color in the restaurant, and they prioritized the service of all of the other tables before ours. the table beside us got their fries almost immediately. then, the waitress was incredibly rude to us, other customers, and her coworkers. the waitress judged my uncle by his weight as a plus-sized man, giving him a lil instead of a big like he asked. when he pointed it out, she said “you really need a lil.” you best believe she didn’t get no tip.

First I tried to place a to go order after three times of calling and no one answer a miracle happened and someone picked up, however that was short lived. I was placed on hold for 10 minutes and eventually hung up. I ended up going in person and placing my order. It took me nearly an hour for my to go order of a small sub and onions rings. The women working were arguing the whole time and I even heard one make the statement to the other “you are really pissing me off” and then went behind her back and started mimicking her and making faces. It felt like a very toxic environment. The only good thing I can say was the man working the grill was trying his best to get everything done… I have been going here for years but I do believe this will be my last because there is no way I can wait that long for a to go order
