Exactly what you would expect from a BBQ pit. Typical wood interior with a pit in the back. They serve your food on a tray, sauces out to grab on your own and you dig in. The service was super friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. I will ABSOLUTELY be coming back.
The wings and the ribs were our favorite! The mac n cheese is top notch too!

It’s a small building out of the way and you wouldn’t even know the food inside is as good as it is. I walked in and ordered at the counter before I sat down at a table.
I don’t think I waited more than 10 minutes for the food to come out. I ordered a small rib platter with a side of beans and a side of potato salad.
The plate came out with cornbread as well which was amazing! The ribs were fall off the bone tender, the flavor was good, the beans were piping hot and I had saved them for last, so they held their heat really well and were packed with flavor.
Overall a great meal and definitely a hidden gem in Durham if you are looking for some bbq.

My husband and i have had the priviledge of eating at Moes original across the eastern usa. From Asheville, NC, to Mobile, Al, and even Panama City Beach, Florida. This was our first time in Durham, NC and it did not disappoint. Large portions, great food, and clean restaurant. Its a 1.5 drive from us and i can tell you it was well worth the drive and we will return in the future! Dont miss out. We had the rib platter with fried jalapeno cornbread( not spicy) and two sides. Small rib is 5 ribs and large is 7 ribs. My sides were baked mac and cheese and mud pie. Yum! They also have cheerwine which pairs well with the bbq. Highly recommend!

Good hush puppies, good mac & cheese, bone dry cornbread, and the brisket was also more dry/tough than it should be. It def didn’t have that saught after pull-apart goodness. Almost had the texture of a steak. My husband picked up our food from here and he asked for a pulled pork sandwich. Whoever was working told him they didn’t have pulled pork…only chopped. He got it anyway and brought it to me, telling me they only had chopped. I don’t like chopped, so I gave it away to my friend and went somewhere else for a pulled pork sandwich. Later on, my friend told me his pulled pork sandwich was great! So… they obviously do have pulled pork. Sad I didn’t get to try it because we were told it was chopped.

Thanks for all the prior reviews that had us head here! Have to add on and pass it forward.
Nice set up. Rustic. What a bbq place should be like! Service is not the most friendly but they get the job done and we were just fine.
Fantastic ribs! The rub was so good I did not want any sauce. Probably the best ribs I have ever had!
My husband loves BBQ sauce and was disappointed that it wasn’t slathered in sauce. We did realize as we walked out, there was plenty sauce by the condiments table. My take , ribs are just perfect the way it is served, but if you want more sauce checkout the condiments table.
Our son got the shrimp po boy sandwich and said it was excellent.
The sides were good. Very tasty, we had the roasted corn, collard greens and Reese’s pie. They are served very hot, so be careful not to burn.
Last but not least, their cornbread was fantastic!
Not sure if we will be back in Durham but if we are, we will stop by again!

These were some great food! The smoked wings really surprised me! The ribs were also tender and juicy. The cornbread was not like the typical ones but definitely worth it. Coleslaw was not creamy but refreshing. Everything well packed and would definitely recommend

All around fantastic experience! The venue is peasant with nice interior, the staff was very polite and the food was well arranged and tasty. We had platters with 1/2 chicken, ribs, pulled pork and fish and all were tasty and filling. I would recommend to all Durham guests. The place is also relatively inexpensive with only 12-16 per platter (meat, 2 sides and a drink).

There is a first time for everything this is the first time I’ve ever left a barbecue joint still hungry, and or unsatisfied. So let me begin as you can see in the picture below. The presentation is good but the amount of fried catfish I’ve seen bigger fish in an aquarium. And it also came with two yes 2 burnt hush puppies as you can see. The slaw was heavy on vinegar and the leaves that begin to wilt made it unpalatable . The potato salad was extremely dry and heavy on the mustard. The pulled pork was OK but didn’t stand out amongst others. The meal tax four dollar tip and one beer was over $35. For that same amount, you could go to Bullock’s barbecue or picnic and have a massive platter and probably have to go tray. But that’s what you get when you’re located in that area because it definitely in Bolden‘s the hipster Brogan hodgepodge mentality. The service kind of sucked. They call out your name. You go pick up your food instead of it being brought to the table because the hostess was too busy playing on his/her phone. I will never ever go back. Do not waste your time or money.

Very nice, great food. The ribs were my favorite. The pulled pork and smoked chicken were quite tasty, too. The mac and cheese is made with real cheese. Reasonably priced and the add more meat for $3 is a deal. The dessert (pudding) was the only thing we did not like.
