We ordered at the window and was told it would be about 15 mins, but it took about 30 mins. The guava tequenos were great, best thing we had. The burger was lukewarm and didn’t have any seasoning/flavor. It did come with fries, which were crispy shoestring type, again no seasoning at all, not even lightly salted. The empanada was supposed to be beef, black beans, plantain, and cheese. There was no cheese and the meat looked and tasted like shredded chicken instead of beef. The plantain was hard and starchy, I’m used to it being soft and sweet when I order this elsewhere.
Overall we weren’t impressed with the food.
2nd Visit July 29, 2020 this time because of weather permitting they also have an out side area where you can order and are 4 tables with umbrellas ideal for this COVID-19 times.
The attendant/cashier she was very nice, friendly and professional.
Today I had the traditional Venezuelan dish: “Pabellón Criollo” It is a plate of shredded beef, rice, black beans, fried plantains and arepitas (small Venezuelan type of corncakes) with a “jugo de parchita” (passion fruit juice). Everything was simple great!!!
Yesterday July 10, 2022 in one of my multiple visits, I had a “Cachapa de jamón y queso de mano” and an “Empana de Pabellón” both were great.
I stopped here because I love the Venezuelan arepas and service at their location in the strip mall on Buford highway. I’ve come here several times when stopping in the mall.
Here, the food is comparable to the strip mall location. Everything I’ve tried has been good. Recently, I had their Reina Pepiada, which is an arepa stuffed with chicken salad. It has avocado mayo with green peas. It is moist, unusual, and tasty. They have a wide selection of sauces.
It is easy to eat here while avoiding gluten and dairy. The arepas are stuffed like a pita sandwich. However, they only have corn, oil, salt and water in the recipe.
The service is friendly but there always seems to be a line. Additionally, the food takes a while.
There is a small dining area with 2 tables that have always been busy. I end up eating in the food court where, on my last visit, there was a pigeon. They also have some outside tables for nice days.
The empanadas are huge! The tequenos are unreal. No matter what you get, start with those. We take it to go, and they always have it ready in <10 min. Also try the Chicha! A sweet, thick & creamy drink that’s made from rice pudding.
