This is a big review….. decided to try this local pie shop to experience the deep dish. I was very surprised how much I liked it. Deep dish is an art and hard to perfect. For example rosatis deep dish is garbage compared to the famous Lou Malnatis. Beggars pizza is in #2nd place behind Malnatis. For a couple reasons. First is the crust, I had the option to make the crust chewy and crispy. The edges had a nice dark crust that you can tell will be that crispy dough we all love. The crust is similar to a Unos pizza crust and is more than just a dough flour, it has a gritty fluffy texture with each bite. Next is the cheese to sauce ratio. The cheese wasn’t overkill which is nice. Some placed just put a pound of mozzarella cheese and it has no flavor at all. The sausage grease and flavors were present with the cheese. Only thing I would critique is the sauce. I think I personally like more of a non sweet pizza sauce. But thats just me being fussy. Overall this is a top deepdish pick for the Plainfield area. Highly encourage the sausage, well done and chewy well done.
When I got there, the pizza still had 5 minutes so I was able to drift down a Blue Moon with an orange until it was done. Very refreshing!!
Cheers!!

Friends for those who have gluten allergies this place has the best pizza dough. I have ever tasted that is sweet and taste normal. Like great pizza should taste. I have tried pizza at Giordano’s, Lou Malnati’s pizza ,fat Ricky, Michael pizza en Romeoville and others. You must try it. I guarantee you would love it also. And thank me later.

I gave it a try because I remember them having tasty pizza. Not anymore. Kids said it tasted like school pizza. Thin crust was thick and did not taste freshly made. It was bad and more than half of it will go to waste.
My order of fried pickles came as tiny pieces of fried eggplants, definitely not worth $8.49. Dough bites were good. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Great food and customer service. Pay attention to their hours as they close earlier than most pizza places. I was dumb and didn’t realize they close at 9 on a Friday. The worker there was nice enough to hold my pizza until I arrived for it.

South side tradition! Having grown up in Blue Island, was raised on Beggar’s. Quality remains the same for last 50 years, fresh ingredients piled high on crust that is substantial enough without being to thick. Lots of cheese.! A variety of other menu items but definitely try the pizza.

I had a very disappointing experience at Beggars Pizza. I came in, paid for my order, and was told my pizza would be ready in about 5 minutes. After sitting for 15 minutes and watching four different customers come in and leave with their food, I got up to check. My pizza was sitting on a warming cart the whole time—no one told me it was ready, and it wasn’t warm anymore. All the employees were in the back, and no one bothered to communicate with me.
When the employee finally came back to the front, I asked why I wasn’t informed my food was done. She looked at me and walked away without saying a word. After I left, I called to speak with a manager. The manager, David Garcia, answered and was extremely rude, unhelpful, and even hung up on me.
This was completely unprofessional from start to finish. I won’t be returning.

More for very casual pizza and bar. The canzone was great! The pizza looked yummy. Pasta average. We were a large group elbow to elbow.

It was… just okay. Having been highly recommended and requested by a local with whom we were going to eat, we swung by and picked up a large sausage thin crust. It was nothing to write home about, and it certainly was not what a beggar would be able to comfortably afford.
That being said, it was fine pizza. Nothing wrong with it. Just average and unassuming to what I can only assume is an untrained palette more interested in Papa John’s and Deep Dish than in this selection.
