We were in town recently from out of state and ate at the Kincaid Grill for the first time. The whole experience from beginning to end was delightful. Juliano at the front desk was so warm and engaging when he seated us – and our server, Felicia, did an outstanding job and was very kind and knowledgeable about food choices. Our meals were absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend the Kincaid Grill, especially for a special occasion.

This meal was really special. It’s tucked away in a strip mall, but don’t let that fool you—everything about the experience feels first-class from the moment you call to make a reservation. The staff’s warmth, attentiveness, and precision remind me of fine-dining service you’d expect from a Michelin-level restaurant.

Even the small details stand out. The utensils are designed for right- and left-handed diners, the bread service includes multiple varieties (and they happily let me try all three), and our server knew the menu inside and out.

I ordered the Parmesan-crusted halibut, and it was fantastic—by far the best I’ve had in Anchorage. I’ve tried similar dishes at Glacier Brewhouse and Orso, but Kincaid’s version wins on both flavor and presentation. The oyster casino appetizer was another highlight: Alaskan oysters baked under a crispy Parmesan crust with just the right touch of bacon.

For dessert, I tried the port-infused chocolate pudding, and it was as rich and interesting as it sounds. They offer several creative desserts, many with a subtle splash of liqueur.

The portions are generous, the atmosphere relaxed yet elegant, and it’s clearly a place where people come to celebrate—nearly every table had a birthday or anniversary candle glowing. It’s easy to see why Kincaid Grill has remained an Anchorage favorite for so many years.

My only feedback is that I hope they will consider adding a shellfish with carbs options (scallops with risotto, crab cakes etc). While scallops nicoise is unique, I prefer a more starchy carb to pair the protein with. Also add a few dishes that are more risky, I feel the menu plays it overall safe, although I understand that’s what the local crowd likely wants.

I would give this restaurant and chef a Michelin star. The pairing and composition of flavors and textures in most of the dishes is nothing less than genius. The flavors are rich, complex but balanced to perfection. Every bite felt like heaven. The use of high quality fresh ingredients in all dishes is evident. For appetizers we ordered the Gorgonzola fondue, seafood fusion soup cauliflower crème soup and poached pear salad, for the main we ordered the Alaskan halibut and Alaskan black cod which was brilliant. All the portions are generous, the prices for the appetizers soups salads and deserts are surprisingly low vs their superb quality. The ambience and vibe in the restaurant are friendly and welcoming. Our waitress Kimberley was professional energetic and knowledgeable, accurately explaining every dish.

It doesn’t look like a high end restaurant from the outside. They have special menu for the day that is not listed on the menu.

Reservation is needed but if there’s available table, they will take you in.

Their complimentary breads were amazing.

We had reservations for 6:30 and seeing how busy they were on a Tuesday night, we knew the food and service would be good. A very cozy restaurant and an amazing range of entree’s to choose from. You cannot make a bad choice here, everything is amazing. We enjoyed our night and will come back, thanks again.

We dined at Kincaid Grill, and it was our best dining experience in Anchorage, Alaska. Our dinner reservation was at 8:45 PM, but since we drove from Fairbanks that day, we were really tired and arrived late. The restaurant called to check if we were coming, and we told them we’d be there in about 5-10 minutes. We arrived around 9:05 PM, and even though the kitchen closed at 9, the staff informed the chef we were coming, and he decided to stay open for us. I really appreciated that gesture.

As for the food, they have a great menu with seafood options. I don’t eat seafood much, but my wife loves it, and I could tell from her reaction that the seafood was amazing. She ordered the Alaskan Halibut, which was a market price item, and it was definitely worth it. I had the Sous Vide Buttermilk Fried Chicken, which was good, and I’d rate it 3.5 out of 5. The waitress also recommended a special drink that I loved.

Overall, this is definitely a place to go for dinner in Anchorage. The staff is very professional, the ambiance is nice, and there’s plenty of seating. I’m not sure if walk-ins are available, but we made a reservation.

If I could give 100 stars for service, I absolutely would!
Ms. Kim, you are a gem. You made my husband’s birthday truly special with your genuine care, deep knowledge of food and wine pairing, and your kindness and patience with all our questions—especially from wine novices like us.
I also want to thank the gentleman who greeted and seated us (I’m so sorry I forgot your name!)—you were wonderful, attentive, polite, and made us feel so welcome. The service overall was top-notch.
The food and wine pairing were exceptional, and Ms. Kim explained everything beautifully, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
This place is truly a hidden gem of the Southside, can’t wait to come back again and again!
