I would eat here almost 3x a week back then sinced I work Nextdoor. Although it’s been more than 10yrs….a cheesesteak shouldn’t be that much different…was kinda disappointed…dry no flavor and barely any cheese. Pastrami…too salty and a bit dry as well. Then I heard new owner took over…might explained it.

I really wanted to like it but I just can’t. First off the positive the fry’s were good and crispy. The bad…my Philly was lacking meat as half my sandwich had nothing but bread and the meat I had was not even chopped! I found a couple huge pieces, and on top of that the bread was completely soggy writhing 10 mins of receiving my food. I also order the Mac salad which was terrible, it tasted like salt and after 2 bites I tossed it out.

Anyone telling you there’s a better Philly Cheesesteak in California is sadly mistaken. . This place has the right flavor, and bread. Always consistent and on point. Steak fries! They have been here for a long time and are a HB staple. You can order a half steak and half fry, walking out of there not spending much $ . Love this place!

Growing up outside Philadelphia, I’m always on the hunt for authentic Philly cheese steaks. John’s has excellent cheese steaks and has been a Huntington Beach favorite for decades. The bread is amazing and baked locally which is a key ingredient to simply amazing sandwiches! They stuff a lot of meat and cheese and peppers and onions in there, and the result makes ya wanna shout, “Go Birds!” Someone will probably shout it back, too. If you like cheese steaks, yeah, get em the way ya like them at John’s!

I really wanted this place to be good but they put to many onions in the cheesesteak, it was like an onion sandwich with meat. Bread was good but got really soggy, not sure why, maybe all the onions. Best thing about this place is portion size, full size cheesesteak is huge.
