Food was re-heated and the noodles were rock hard on the ends. Service was awful. Super slow. Waiter never came back! Nothing Italian about this place. It still looks like the previous places. I didn’t get it. Big bar and sports on all the TVs. I was looking for more ambiance. Weird paint colors. The food was just whatever.

We walked in, nothing about the decor or vibe was Italian. We though that was okay as long as the food and service were good. Our waitress was fantastic. Very nice and attentive. She brought us our salads. The croutons were really stale. Not just a little stale. REALLY stale. I’m not sure how that’s possible since the place has only been open a few days. The food was extremely greasy. I ate less than half of my plate, and started feeling nauseous due to the grease. The pasta was over cooked in some parts and under cooked on others. My boyfriend will eat just about anything and he couldn’t eat his food either. The food was $25-30 a plate for something we couldn’t eat.
The waitress noticed that we didn’t eat much of our food and asked if there was an issue. We gave our feedback. She did her best to fix the issue (offer free dessert and offered to have the kitchen remake our food to go), but our stomachs were pretty upset so we declined. She was VERY good. The only positive part of our experience.

I had an excellent experience at Giovanni’s Italian Ristorante in Sauk Rapids. We were seated right away. Wait staff was attentive without hovering. The cocktail list is interesting, and the wine is fairly priced. My dinner salad of crisp greens, slice of radish, and garbanzo beans was fresh, and served with warm bread and butter. The homemade linguini in the Frutti di Mare was perfectly al dente with a generous amount of shrimp, scallops, fish, etc, in a savory red sauce. The homemade Tiramisu was light, creamy, and enough to share. What a treat to have this quality of homemade Italian food right here in central Minnesota.

Soup was delicious, main dish was good. Missing something not sure what. Food was made with love and it tasted like home. I wish they had garlic bread. Overall really good, I saw the bad reviews and wanted to try it for myself. Excited to visit again when they are more settled. Everyone was attentive even when the placed was packed.

My group was hesitant to go because of other reviews, but SO glad we tried it for ourselves! Food was so good and drinks were reasonably priced. The complementary warm bread and honey butter was great. Our group of 4 shared 3 pizzas, they were filling and we had left overs. They are made fresh so they took a bit of time to come out, which is fine since it is a sit down restaurant and not fast food. The chicken Alfredo was amazing, also loved the Hawaiian. They had 3 servers, and it was busy, but they were still attentive and refilled our drinks often.

We were excited to try this restaurant in Sauk Rapids. The restaurant was beautifully decorated (but freezing) for Valentine’s Day but that was about the only good thing with our dining experience. Once ordered, it took a solid 15-20 minutes for the waiter to bring over 2 of our 3 drinks and the third took an additional 10 minutes which is understandable if they were busy which they weren’t. (It was just soda) Everything came out painfully slow which is understandable for a new restaurant but bringing out the bread and salad could have been done much quicker than the 30-45 minutes it took. The staff were all incredibly friendly but seemed like they had no idea what was going on. The main dishes were flavorless and just awful. The CANNELLONI was incredibly greasy and the noodles were very chewy (the pork inside was good). The Alfredo was completely flavorless and tasted like wet noodles in a heavy whipping cream bath. The Diablo pizza was edible but nothing to write home about. That said, the bread/honey butter was really good as was the coconut shrimp and the calamari. The prices are very high for the amount of food you get. I would have no issue paying that much if the food matches the price. I think the restaurant has potential but staff needs better training and the food needs more flavor!!!

This place is amazing. For starters, the Espresso Martini is so amazing. Our Calamari was delicious and cooked to perfection; the marinara dipping sauce tasted so good I kept dipping my fork in it just to get that flavor. We both got the PASTA ALLA VENEZIANA and it was so spectacular. Everything was perfectly cooked and that cream sauce was out of this world. Also, our waiter was very nice. I’m super excited to go back. It is slightly more expensive but it’s absolutely worth it. I highly recommend you try this location.

We had reservations for 6 adults at 5:30pm on Friday and got seated right away. There were about 10-12 people in line ahead of us w/o reservations, but they appeared to be seated in reasonable order.
Our server told us right away that they were down a few staff, but we had absolutely no problem with his/their service. If you’ve done any dining out throughout the St. Cloud area, you certainly realize that there is a common shortage of workers in most restaurants.
The salads were crisp and refreshing and the bread was very good, served warm with honey butter.
The entrees were pleasing in appearance, generous in portions, and hot when served. We all were very pleased with the flavor and texture of our different meals and desserts.
After only being open for business for just a few days, I believe Giovanni’s did a great job serving our dinner experience. I welcome them to Sauk Rapids and wish them the very best with growth in our community. Everyone views their dining experiences differently, but at this point, I can speak very favorably for our experience at Giovanni’s.

We were pleasantly surprised by the warm atmosphere & welcoming staff. The menu had something for everyone & the food was among the best we’ve had in memorable history made with scratch made sauces & pasta. They had a good selection of wines & cocktails. This has quickly become our favorite restaurant.

I hate to leave a bad review! But this was an awful experience for me and my boyfriend.
First of all, when they poured our water, we noticed gunk floating around in our water. After looking closer at the glasses at our table, we found they were dirty. One glass still had someone’s mouth imprint on it. Entrees are said to come with bread. The waitress asked us if we wanted the bread and butter at all, we both said yes and she brought us one to share even though we got two entrees. The butter tasted old like it has been in the fridge for a long time but the bread was good. Just wish we would have gotten more. The food was just disappointing. My boyfriend didn’t even want his leftovers and he hardly ate any of it. I thought I could make mine better at home but it ultimately ended up going to the dogs. The total for the two meals and one glass of wine was $62. We’d be happy to pay that price for a good experience but I feel completely robbed! I do not recommend this place.
