If I could give 6 stars, I would. My boyfriend brought me to Davenport’s for a romantic dinner, and we had the most lovely evening. The decor and ambience felt elegant and sophisticated, like true fine dining. The food was so delicious and the portions were decently sized. I ordered a prime rib-eye cooked to medium plus, and it was absolutely perfect! I could not stop talking about it! My boyfriend got the baby back ribs, and they tug right off the bone! We also got the crab cake for an appetizer and the peanutbutter pie for dessert, both of which were scrumptious. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the service was most excellent. Our server, Stephan, provided the best service we have ever had, hands-down! He was extremely knowledgeable about the food, provided top-notch recommendations, was quick to take care of everything we needed–even going above and beyond–and overall was very friendly, positive, generous, and wonderful to talk to. Everything about Davenport’s was exemplary during our dining experience. I say with 100% certainty that we will be coming back again very soon!

Apparently the bar stools at Devenport’s are owner reserved.

We stopped at Devenport’s in Encino for a drink at the bar before heading to a one Michelin star restaurant across the street. When we arrived, the bar was completely empty. We were the only guests there.

While we were seated at the bar, the bartender told us we needed to move because the owner was arriving. At the same time, he abruptly placed two menus and two rollups directly in front of us, clearly marking the seats as “reserved.” There had been no signage or prior notice before we sat down.

Shortly after, the owner showed up, touched one of us on the shoulder, and said, “That’s my seat. I’m going to the bathroom, but when I come back, I need the seat.”

We actually started to laugh out of disbelief. In our entire careers working in five star hotels, we have never experienced anything like this. We fully understand reserved seating when there is prior signage or proper communication, but this was neither.

Being physically touched and pushed out of seats despite an entirely empty bar was arrogant, dismissive, and deeply unprofessional. This is not hospitality.

This happened two weeks ago, and I still find myself thinking about it. It has become my go to anecdote every time I talk about poor service since leaving your restaurant.

So there you have it. Consider this our contribution to your well earned one star review.

We came to this restaurant for our eighth anniversary and the owner immediately showed up with champagne and it was really good.
I had prime rib, sea salt baked potato and asparagus. My partner had ribeye steak and garlic roasted potatoes. I had Chardonnay Rombauer wine that was spectacular. We started the dinner with an appetizer of Rockefeller oysters that were great. The service at this restaurant is really one of a kind we will definitely be back

I love this place and we’ve been going a lot more lately. We sit outside with our pups. The service is fantastic. On point and the food is well priced for what you get. It beats any of the typical chains- I rarely finish my food and end up taking it home. The portions are not skimpy.

We tried the prime rib, beet salad, and seafood pasta. Generous sized portions, quality ingredients, and tasty dishes. Service is quick and attentive. atmosphere is nice but a bit plain. 2 hr free parking behind the restaurant with validation. A very good experience overall.

Incredible food. Sometime after High School, me and some friends were invited to dine here. Unsure of what to order, we decided to order and split amongst us. My buddy ordered the Baby Back Ribs and as we were going to split the food amongst ourselves, it completely disintegrated as the bone was lifted. Meat slid right off. At this moment, my friend and I looked at each other and realized the incredible taste this was going to have. Sure enough, it was incredible. It’s been over a decade at this point, and we still compare any ribs we order to the ones at Davenports. Not even close. Truly incredible.

Davenport’s delivered another fantastic dinner experience! We started with an appetizer of the best shrimp either of us has ever tasted—they were huge, served with spectacular dill and cocktail sauces. Dinner was equally impressive: I enjoyed the prime rib with a side of delicious baked potato and asparagus, while my partner raved about the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The parmesan-crusted rolls with whipped butter were, as always, out of this world. Paired with a spectacular glass of Rombauer Chardonnay, the meal was perfect. The ambiance, complete with soft lighting and live jazz, made for a great evening, topped off by a delicious brownie and vanilla ice cream sundae. You simply can’t go wrong here!

Without a doubt, five out of five stars. Clean restaurant and well-maintained restrooms, large menu – both food and drinks, and every employee was very helpful and pleasant. The owner and his son, the chef, actually took the time to come talk and see how the food was and they were incredibly nice and conversational. Definitely the BEST sea bass I have ever had in my life – it melts like butter in your mouth! The lobster appetizer is also very tasty and not something you could just order anywhere – the chef has his own spin on the way he prepares it! Absolutely delicious!

We came in excited to celebrate my birthday, and things started off strong—my martini was perfect, just the way I like it, with a little extra olive.

But things went downhill once the food arrived.

My steak came out lukewarm. Our server agreed and took it back. In hindsight, I wish I’d kept it—especially now thinking about it at 10:30 PM, still hungry.

I ordered a glass of wine at that point. You’d expect it to arrive before the replacement steak. It didn’t. In fact, the second steak showed up first—and was cold. My wife and daughter confirmed it wasn’t just me.

My daughter had ordered the fried chicken salad with dressing on the side. We had to ask for the dressing twice, and it finally arrived when she was nearly done. That shouldn’t happen.

On a brighter note, the burger my wife ordered was fantastic— The salad was also great.

We also asked twice for more bread and never got it.And if something comes out wrong twice, a manager—not just the server—should step in. That never happened.

To be clear: the food was excellent, and the service team truly tried. But effort needs leadership. When things go wrong, someone in charge should acknowledge it. Instead, you disappeared.
