A warm welcome greeted us and we ordered poppadoms as our starter and then an array of different curries. The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious.
It is a bring your own alcohol and the corkage is £2 50 a bottle. We brought some white wine and s wine cooler was provided and the other bottle was put in the fridge. They do serve non alcoholic drinks.
The service was excellent and so friendly. It is always a pleasyto come here. Booking is essential as it is so popular o the weekend.
From the moment we sat down, the service felt disrespectful and intrusive. The waiters repeatedly came to our table and started moving our plates and taking away cutlery without even asking if we were finished. It felt very rude and disruptive, as we were still in the middle of eating. Basic courtesy like asking before clearing the table seemed completely ignored.
What made the experience worse was the way we were treated compared to other tables. It genuinely felt like we were being singled out, and the constant interruptions made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, almost as if we were being rushed out. It left a strong impression of discrimination and lack of respect toward customers.
On top of that, the food itself was extremely disappointing. The dishes lacked flavor, were poorly prepared, and did not live up to the prices being charged.
Overall, the combination of poor service, intrusive behavior from the staff, and bad food made this one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. I would not recommend this place and will definitely not be returning.
What was even more concerning was that this treatment seemed to be directed specifically at our table, while other diners were not treated the same way. The constant interruptions made us feel unwelcome and rushed.
In addition to the poor service, the food itself was disappointing, lacking flavor and not matching the prices charged.
This combination of intrusive service and poor food quality made this one of the worst dining experiences we have had. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves both service standards and customer treatment.
All the drinks are non alcoholic, but you can buy and bring your own they will charge you for the use of the glass for around £1.20.
I had the lamb cooked with pineapple and lychee with plain butter naan. My partner had lamb sag with pilau rice. The restaurant was empty so our order came very quickly. Freshly cooked and piping hot.
The menu list the dishes according to spice level, thank you. This saves me asking the staff and deciding what I can and can’t eat. My chosen meal was from the mild section and my partner chose his from the hot section.
The restaurant was clean and the staff were polite and welcoming. No complaints, highly recommend.
Had to wait well over an hour from ordering to get our main courses, no communication or apologies.
Most of the curries came out looking pretty similar tbh and luckily I had chicken as the quality of the lamb for those who had lamb curry was not great, heavily overcooked and very chewy..
Whilst my son was finishing his meal one of the waiters started clearing the table eventhough he had been asked not to and had to be.prompted twice to stop.
The guy who came to clean the table flicked food here and there – not much care at all.
Final straw, my husband was vomiting at home within 3 hours of the meal.
Tbh I am not sure what has happened to this place, last time we came we had a beautiful meal and I used to come regularly to meet up with my brother and the food was always great and the service too.
I can only conclude that they are so busy doing food for deliveries that they have forgotten what that they are supposed to be …a restaurant!!!. Clearly they need help in their kitchen and some training on customer service.
You can only trade on your name for so long TAMARIND!
We celebrated my Dad’s birthday there recently and when I asked Abdul if I could decorate the table and bring in a balloon in advance as a surprise, the answer was an instant ‘of course you can!’
We have been coming to Tamarind regularly over the last 20 + years, but I haven’t been for a decade as I moved to Australia. It’s even better than I remember. Highly recommend, can’t wait to come back.
Would definitely recommend and fine back to again
