A friend recommended that I give this place a try since I love oysters so much, so I took my dad and sister here. Mind you, my father is even more picky than I am about seafood lol, so I knew he would either hate it or love it. We did not make a reservation, and they do take walk-ins.

I loved the atmosphere, it felt like a great place for groups or an intimate setting (towards the back of you wanted more privacy, but the space is bigger than I thought it would be. I loved the oyster station with the fresh shaved ice to keep the seafood cold and fresh. The mirrors used to make the space feel even more spacious and the white which didn’t feel blinding (soften by the industrial lighting)

We started off with two dozen oysters and the happy hour fried calamari (3/10). My dad wasn’t a fan so we tried the Salmon Tartare also on happy hour (5/10) and Shrimp Scewer with Avocado (7/10), I wish there was more seasoning on the shrimp, but the texture was great and the avo and bread were fresh. We then tried the pork ribs (8.5/10), and my dad loved them lol, go figure! We shared 2 plates and added a side of fingerling potatoes (7/10), nicely seasoned and well cooked!

I’d love to go back and try a few other options from the menu.

Just a heads up. Happy hour oysters are only at the bar from 7pm. So if you plan on getting them, be sure to get there a lil earlier as spots at the bar can be full.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Find in Times Square!

We stumbled upon Mermaid Oyster Bar in Times Square after seeing that the wait at Tony di Napoli’s was over an hour. Luckily, Mermaid Oyster Bar was just a few doors down on the same block, and it turned out to be an amazing choice.

The service was attentive and friendly from start to finish. ❤️You get a great mix of locals and tourists, which always feels like a good sign, especially in Times Square. The ambiance is excellent—great music, fun energy, and really good vibes without being so loud that you can’t have a conversation.

They were running a fantastic special that night: the Frutti di Mare, which was generously portioned and perfect for two people. We also ordered the Oysters Rockefeller, which were quite possibly the best I’ve ever had—absolutely outstanding.

Another big win for families: they offer a kids menu, and my kids loved the chicken fingers. It’s not always easy to find a spot like this that works for both adults and kids in Times Square.

Overall, this place offers great value for the money, especially given the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere. Mermaid Oyster Bar is a must-visit whether you’re a local or visiting the city—we’ll definitely be back! ‍♀️

We went to Mermaid oyster bar before our show on the broadway. Great location when your near Times Square area. We were looking for something reasonable near all the “tourist’s priced” places and was very happy find a familiar name that me and my wife used to go to. We used to love their happy hour down in there original east village locations and definitely missed them.

We got couple of drinks to go with dozen oysters and tried their artichoke dip and they were very very delicious.
Our Bartender was friendly as well.
Definitely will be back whenever we are in the area.

This place was recommended by a friend as a great Broadway stop and they were so right. It’s a quiet, warm hug in a very busy place. Prices are right and I had a great gluten friendly meal. Happy hour was going on, even on a Sunday, so there are cheaper small plates. Service was impeccable and quick. Food came out in about 10 minutes. Would love to come back.

We had an overall enjoyable experience, thanks in large part to the friendly service. Our server was a true highlight — friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about their work. Their oyster recommendations were spot-on and ended up being one of the best parts of the evening.

The ambiance was warm and inviting and the food was solid, with generous portions (sometimes too generous — especially when it came to fries and pasta). While we appreciated the abundance of shellfish in the linguine with clams, the pasta ratio felt excessive and a bit wasteful. Similarly, the lobster roll was buried under a mountain of fries.

Timing between courses was inconsistent — some dishes arrived quickly, others took quite a while. If you’re in no rush, it’s a pleasant, leisurely dining experience. But it’s probably not the best choice if you’re on a schedule.

Dessert was underwhelming. The crème brûlée lacked the crisp sugar shell we expected, and the brownie sundae looked better than it tasted.

That said, the combination of great service, a charming atmosphere, and good location gives this place real potential. With some adjustments to pacing, portion balance, and dessert execution, it could be a standout. Just be ready to take your time and settle in.

Very good service! Came in for happy hour — the Wagyu bites were excellent, and the oysters were fresh and delicious at $1.50 each. Drinks were well made and a good deal at $10. The short rib toast was okay but not the best value. The staff was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. Overall, a nice atmosphere with comfortable seating and a relaxed vibe.

Everything was excellent about our first visit! Great location a block from our hotel. Seafood tower was amazing & fresh! Everyone enjoyed their food! Lovely atmosphere to warm up and unwind. I realized I had left photos there from one of our favorite events and return left items was not something they typically do however the manager Julio made an exception and was kind enough to mail it me to Florida. That meant a lot to me as the photos were sentimental. Thank you for going above & beyond!!! We will definitely be back in the spring!!!

We came while happy hour pricing was still in effect, so we were able to sample and share. Oysters were delicious. Chowder was great. Kale salad was perfectly prepared.

Came in for happy hour on a Sunday in December, and every item on the happy hour menu was DELICIOUS! Oysters were of course great, the sliders, the salmon tartare, the clam chowder – all excellent. Great music and atmosphere, just a little slow service, got our drinks after our first dishes and didn’t see the server much.

The calamari was hot, fresh and tasty with the batter light and not overpowering. The Mini Mermaid Fish Tacos were delicious and were well complimented with a Mini New England Clam Chowder. The Hush Puppies were just OK (could have been served hotter). We were there for happy hour so the price was great for a late Manhattan Lunch. I will definitely go back to the Mermaid Oyster Bar.
