On the other hand, the banh mi is okay. The bread was a little hard. The taste was still good though
Staff were very friendly and service was fast. I only wish they were open a little bit longer
The server is one of the best servers I’ve ever met in Calgary, she’s good at having small talks with customers, and she’s very energetic
The store is clean and new, the decorations look kind of nice

A few months ago they added two betta fish in beautifully arranged bowls with live plants. My husband and I loved seeing them — they were active, curious, and always responsive. And just to be factual:
Betta fish recognize familiar faces, respond to gentle movement, and thrive in calm, low-stress environments with live plants.
This isn’t an opinion — it’s basic biology of the species.
Today I noticed the fish were gone because of a complaint, and I’d like to address that respectfully but clearly:
There was no animal-welfare issue here.
The bowls were clean, the water was clear, the plants were real, and no one handled or bothered the fish. This setup is fully appropriate for bettas and actually supports their natural behavior.
And realistically, countless restaurants, cafés and hotels around the world include aquariums and live plants — both are living beings, and calm observation of them is not considered harm.
Interaction in a peaceful environment doesn’t damage a fish or a plant. Using “existence in a public space” as a measure of cruelty simply doesn’t align with how animal welfare is defined.
Ironically, the complaint didn’t protect the fish — it removed them from a calm environment where they had daily gentle stimulation, and now they spend most of the day alone at home. That is actually less healthy for a betta.
We truly love this restaurant and the wonderful team working here, and we’ll continue to support them. They deserve kindness — not misplaced criticism.
They advertise that they do not use MSG and we do taste the difference between their broth and some of the other places where there is heavy MSG.
Tried their banh mi for the first time today ans found it was average because I prefer the meat char grilled but the serving size was good and veggies were fresh.
