Stopped by late evening and ordered a plate of seafood and chicken. Warning if you don’t want spicy, tell it in advance but remember the word “jerk” implies spiciness. Run by a very nice owner. Food and especially desserts awesome. The dalpuri rotis were amazing.

First bite was the beef patty and mi haffi stop right deh! di crust crispy, di filling seasoned proper. It instantly bring mi back to Tastee days. No joke, best beef patty inna di state.

I also tried the black cake, and it did not disappoint, rich, moist, and full of flavor.

As you can see in the picture, I ordered the jerk chicken with festival and rice & peas. Everything was authentic, well-seasoned, filling, and truly satisfying.

I will absolutely be back.

Great experience all around. The food was freshly made and delicious! The service and ambiance was lovely. Their black cake was impeccable! Their fresh juices were next level. This spot reminds me of Island Grill in Jamaica. You have to stop by! It’s worth it!

Had the jerk chicken with rice and beans with plantains. The food was not bad but it lacked “taste”. The thing that I must liked was the plantains, so you may understand how “good” was this lunch. They need to improve the taste overall.
Ive had much better jerk chicken with rice and beans on other Jamaican places.

Hello,

I wanted to share feedback regarding my last two orders. Unfortunately, both experiences were disappointing.

The cabbage and rice stuffed in the chicken roti were very heavy and not prepared as expected. Which having rice in roti was an 1st for me and it wasn’t a veggie roti I ordered. Additionally, the oxtail portion contained large bones with very little tough meat, especially at the bottom of the container. For a $50 order, I did not feel the quality or portion matched the price.

I’ve ordered from your restaurant before and was satisfied, which is why this was surprising. I would appreciate if someone could review this and let me know how this can be resolved.

Thank you for your time.

Food was good, but not worth the price. Jerk chicken was done the right way, and if you are craving it… this will hit the spot! However, very corporate environment and plating leave a lot to be desired. My rice was bland, and the platter was just rice and chicken. There are so many better spots for Jamaican food in NJ! This one can be skipped, unfortunately

Simply Jerk Jamaican Gill is the real deal. The food, service, and atmosphere is nice. I only ordered a few side dishes. Each side dish was tasty (like they were the respective stars of the meal).

The steamed cabbage was spicy. The beef patty’s crust was fluffy and flaky (the way it should have been). Even the homemade sorrel was blended to the right texture and taste. The chef didn’t skimp on the pepper or the sorrel.

Blessings upon blessings!

My family and I stopped by Simple Jerk Jamaican Grill, and let me be clear this was the real deal.
From the first bite, the authenticity came through. I sampled a slice of the Jamaican fruit cake, and it absolutely blew me away. The patties were on point, and the jerk chicken? Properly seasoned, well executed, no shortcuts.
This isn’t hype—this is quality. If you’re anywhere in the area, this spot needs to be on your list. Full stop.
Shout out to Russ Olivia and his family outstanding chefs, strong family operation, and a great representation of Jamaican cuisine done the right way.

I highly recommend checking this place out. If it wasn’t so far from home, I’d go frequently. We had the jerk chicken dark meat meal with rice and peas and cabbage. Chicken was flavorful, not overly spicy, and very juicy. Rice and cabbage were very good as well.

We then got oxtail to go, and that was amazing. Fall off the bone and full of flavor. Good prices for what you get!!

Cute spot. Food cane out at a reasonable time for our take out.

Food was delicious abs portion was good for the price.

The service was also good in store however there was lack of attention in the kitchen.

This place offers shellfish and if you are allergic I highly recommend to stay away.

I got the jerk chicken combo meal which contains shrimp

My friend got the jerk chicken dish (not the combo)

My friend told them about her allergy and ask if they have control on the process in term of cross contamination and the answer as you would guess was YES.

However on that particular date, the answer was no and not sure if that yes is ever a Yes.

Food was consumed as assurance was provided. Delicious food, but we ended up in the ER 40 minutes later due to allergic reaction. Our thought is that they might have used the same serving utensils which caused cross contamination

Restaurant was contacted the next day and issue was communicated to the owner. She tried to convince that they have control until she was told the whole story. To our surprise, the owner was more concerned of the imagine/reputation of the restaurant more than the safety of her clients because she asked if we left any comments on social media regarding this issue. She thanked my friend for not taking the incident to social media however I am worrying this review to inform anyone and most importantly to alert you so you don’t experience the same if you are shellfish allergy.

Eat at your own risk and good luck.

If you don’t have allergies I would recommend this place.

Cheers!!!
