I’m on a mission to find the best California Burrito in San Diego.
This is the 28th spot I’ve tried — Señor Pancho Fresh Mexican Grill.
The Burrito: I had to wait a bit before they took my order. The burrito itself is on the smaller side. The meat tastes good — it comes with fries, cheese, and a creamy sauce that feels like sour cream. But no guacamole. There isn’t much filling inside, and compared to other places in San Diego, this one feels a bit light. You can find burritos elsewhere that are so huge you can’t finish them in one go — this one isn’t like that. The price is slightly higher than the city average, and they also charge a small card fee. 2 out of 10
Service: Friendly staff, but it took them some time to take my order. You can also order and pick up your food from your car through the drive-thru, which is convenient. 2 out of 10
Atmosphere: They try to create a Mexican vibe with Spanish-language radio and the overall look of the place, but that’s about it. 2 out of 10
Update: after I posted my review, a representative from the café messaged me and said that the sauce was a cream sauce. First of all, the tone of the message was disrespectful, and they clearly don’t know how to respond to constructive criticism. Second, it’s awful what they put in my California burrito if that really wasn’t a cream sauce, because that’s exactly what it tasted like.

I stop by when I’m in the area. The last 3 times I ordered sour cream inside the burrito, I get charged, and they forget the sour cream. Every time. Ordered a BRC burrito with sour cream, paid $11.75, they gave me a BRC with carne asada. I would excuse one time messing up but paying extra and not getting what you want is crazy. Asked for green salsa. Gave me no salsa.

People were very happy and greeting. Food is a for only because we asked for our tacos to be fried medium soft. It on a corner by the college. So, it was a bit loud. The costumer service was good and friendly. Parking a little small, hard to get out to traffic.

I ordered to go and this has to be the nastiest Mexican food in San Diego 🙁 I should’ve listened to the other reviews. The enchiladas are literally can sauce. The carne asada fries literally stank like they went bad.

Went here the other night on a Wednesday with my friend and family ! Sad cus the food was bomb! But the whole experience was HORRIBLE! The drive in was confusing which I could live with ! But we ordered( everyone was going to separate locations )when we approached the window we paid and the older gentleman with glasses asked what kinda salsa we wanted we said both and asked for extra ! You would have thought we called his momma out of his name ! He went off and said “we don’t even know how many I gave you & your asking for more “ my friend even told him we’ll pay for it because we all are going to separate houses & he said “that’s not the point “ and demanded for us to tell him how many we wanted in total ! It was just weird and I live right down the street and I most likely would never go there or recommend it! Food is expensive and to be yelled at even offering to pay was wild to me ! It made me so uncomfortable & almost didn’t want the food anymore . Bad service for sure

If you’re in the area, this is definitely a spot to try for creative and delicious Mexican food. All of the prices were affordable and the menu options we’re customized which I really enjoyed! The service was fast and efficient and helpful! I’m definitely coming back

My food was mouldy. The 3 tacos had green mould inside. I will be reporting this to the health department. I called to complain and was told that yes, there has been a problem with mouldy tortillas last week too! I asked for a refund and was told the Manager wasn’t there so no one could help. Truly awful. The manager has replied insulting my intelligence. The mould is the green in the tortillas. Not red from cabbage. I am very disappointed you ignored that your colleague even said it was mould. I have reported your restaurant to the Health department.

I ordered carne asada nachos and she gave me pollo asada. She refused to give me a new order or refund from her own mistake. Horrible experience and the nachos were very dry at the bottom.
