Picked up a pretty big order from Sumo Hibachi & Sushi. Overall verdict: some hits, some mids, but for the price? Not bad at all.
Let’s start with the sushi. Overall, it was kinda mid except for the spicy tuna roll, that one was actually amazing and carried the team. The eel avocado roll was okay, nothing special, just vibing. California roll was… a California roll. Shrimp tempura and volcano sushi were decent, did their job. Vegetable spring rolls were mid, no disrespect but no excitement either.
We also ordered the shrimp hibachi, which was actually solid. Some of the food was really good, some was just there, but honestly for what we paid, it felt worth it.
Pickup experience was a little chaotic. My card randomly decided to stop working, so I ended up paying cash like it was 2007. I asked the lady for extra pink sauce and she said she already gave us some, I meant extra extra. Turns out we had more than enough anyway, so that one’s on me. BUT I do wish I asked for more soy sauce because they only gave us two packets… for a big order. Two soy sauces is just criminal.
I wanted to double-check the order before leaving, but the plastic bag was tied with a knot stronger than my will to argue, and they were busy, so I just grabbed the bags and dipped.
By the time we got back to the Airbnb (about 15 minutes away), the food was cold. It was raining, it’s winter, and physics was not on our side, we still ate it though.
One more thing: no sweet potato roll and no peanut avocado roll. Honestly… just shut the restaurant down at that point (I’m joking… kinda).
Final thoughts: sushi was hit or miss, hibachi was good, price was fair, and I’d probably come back, but next time I’m asking for extra soy sauce like my life depends on it.

If I could sum up this experience with a word, it would be…ehh…This place isn’t bad, per se. However, it isn’t very astonishing either. The food came out very quick, and it was enjoyable, about as much as the average meal should be. The atmosphere leaves much to be desired, as it is pretty small and dark in there. As far as the service, the waitress did not really speak to me. She only came up to the table to fill my water a couple times, but just pours the drink and leaves. If you’re looking for a quick, average hibachi place with all of the menu basics, I guess this will suffice. If you are looking for really good Asian cuisine, or a date night, or a cool spot with a nice atmosphere for dinner out with friends, this is NOT IT. Trust me, not worth it. However, at the same time it wasn’t THAT bad. Just……lacking. There are far better asian style restaurants in the area.

It was pretty good. I didn’t expect much, but the fried rice was delicious at a reasonable price. The yakisoba was a bit salty, but it tasted great with the sauce.

Food is ok. Nothing fancy but satisfies the urge of hibachi food. Place could be cleaner but it is not really dirty. Small dining room area so not enough seating space at rush time. It does make it for a faster service. Sushi rolls are ok although on the small side which is not as bad considering the price.
I would rather order to go instead of dining in.

A small business I will boast for! Food was ready timely, we typically order a variety of foods and everything was fresh, and delicious! Impressed with their affordability and I will hope they stay that way. I was on their website and saw they offer 50% deals for senior citizens which is so thoughtful!

We eat here at least once a week. Food quality is always consistent and very good. We enjoy their sushi and their hibachi each time. The experience is very personal too because they will remember you and your order, which we always appreciate.

I’m 34 weeks pregnant long day at work and have been craving yum yum sauce with chicken. I usually go to kyotos but decided to give them a try. While I was happy to order my food he lady in the bagging section was rushing me while looking at a menu. After I ordered I went to sit down. When my order was ready I asked for extra yum yum sauce she said it’s 3 with an attitude so I was like ok . Got home ate some of it and the food was dry! I was livid and threw it away and got my fiancé to get me Kyoto’s instead. If you’re going to have a nasty attitude at least make sure the food is worth it. And if you don’t like what you do respectfully find your passion. Not everyone is going to be as patient and respectful as I was.!

I have no complaints. VERY GOOD sushi, soup and salad
Fast service, not a big place, but I prefer the more quiet spots so I was happy
Enjoyed our food!
We will return if in the area again

Wow, the food here and value here was incredible. From the sushi to the hibachi we were blown away. Make sure you try the Brunswick Roll its fire! The place didn’t look all that great but don’t let that fool you, there sushi was just as good or better than the fanciest places we’ve eaten at. Just be warned its not called SUMO for nothing, the food is so good and show cheap you’ll end up eating enough to look like a Sumo wrestler when your done…

The food was decent and the prices were reasonable. The biggest upside to this place was that it was fast, very clean, and I didn’t have to drive all the way out to SSI to get sushi. Our waitress was nice, if a little quiet, and stayed on top of our drink refills and got the check settled quickly. We will probably go back, but set your expectations accordingly, this is a fairly generic place with fairly generic food.
