These types of restaurants are going the way of Egg Foo, a forgotten menu item of the past…oh, and the main reason I came here, when I saw that Egg Foo Young was on the menu.
The ambiance was nice and cozy. A lot of take out traffic, which surprised me tha more people were not enjoying the nostalgic atmosphere of this place. No problems getting seating.
How was the food? Overall it was good. The Egg Foo Young? Different. Not the seasoned brown gravy of my memory, but rather a peanut sauce gravy…Different.
One old school trick we used to go by to judge a Chinese restaurant was the egg drop soup. If a place couldn’t make a good egg drop soup (one of the least expensive dishes) you couldn’t expect much more out of anything else on the menu. So how was the egg drop soup? DELICIOUS!
I will go back to try some other dishes, if for nothing else, the atmosphere, decent service, and overall appeal of the place.
Also ordered black bean veg + tofu dish and it was phenomenal. Great flavors and freshness. Perfect low key spot for comforting Chinese food.
Will be back!
The sushi was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I tried a few different rolls, and each one was better than the last. They have a massive selection of rolls, sashimi, and nigiri, so there’s definitely something for everyone.
We also ordered the tofu in garlic sauce with white rice, and it was delicious—super flavorful and perfectly cooked. I started with the house salad with ginger dressing, and that dressing was so good I would come back just for that.
They also have a solid wine list and even a full menu of Chinese dishes, so it’s a great spot if you’re craving variety. Highly recommend if you’re looking for fresh sushi and great service in a low-key setting!
I got the cherry blossom roll, and my husband had the Alaska Roll. He was very pleased, because it wasn’t loaded with a ton of rice. My roll was really good as well. He also ordered the sashimi salad and loved it. The presentation was wonderful and everything looked really fresh.
We enjoyed our visit and will be back in November when we have another concert to go to.
They have a dining area but they obviously do more Take Out business. They offer very good Sushi with many choices as well. While I was dining, there were many takeout orders being picked up and many were for the Sushi.
The Dining Room is a bit dated and the booths are a somewhat worn. The ambiance is OK and the service is very good. Cheers!
Hubs enjoys the sesame chicken. Not overly sweet and it comes with rice cooked perfectly.
