We had such an amazing experience here. The food was incredible, honestly some of the best meals we had in a bit. Chef James is talented, kind, engaging, and genuinely appreciative. You can tell he really cares about the food than he puts out.

We loved it so much that we actually changed our plans and ate here three nights in a row,. Every single dish was perfection. Everything we ordered was delicious, beautifully presented, and consistently excellent. The mussels, pasta, skillet chicken, and Bangers and Mash were so good that we took turns ordering them each night. The two 9 year old boys ate every bit of their skirt steak with chimichurri sauce and they both ordered it two nights in a row.

The staff was welcoming, accommodating, and truly appreciative, which made the whole experience even better. This place is something special and absolutely worth going out of your way for. We will definitely be back.

Started out a little weird. Walked up to the front of the building and the deck was unfinished, a bit of a safety hazard but we walked up close to the door so as not to step where the missing decking boards were. Was supposed to be open at 5pm
but someone told us through the window that they weren’t quite ready to open yet and to give them another 15 minutes. (?) We waited until 5:30 to try again. Really cool place on the inside. Server was very pleasant. Our food was really good. I do agree with another reviewer that the bread was a bit burnt but I’ve had worse.

I ordered mussels and many of them didn’t open and many of them were broken like they were smashed with a hammer. (Photo supplied)
Just about every bite was full of shards of broken shell. Honestly it still tasted fine but the seafood handling made me very nervous that I would get sick.

Update: I did end up getting sick, in retrospect I should have sent the plate back.
Unsafe food handling practices are unacceptable , kitchen should have tossed the plate and started over if half the mussels didn’t open. I’ll take some responsibility for ordering mussels in the middle of nowhere, but they represent themselves as an upscale restaurant and at that level anything like this is a huge red flag

While my wife were in the area we stopped in for dinner. The atmosphere was nice, our server was very kind and courteous. We ordered several appetizers which came out fairly quickly and everyone of them were fresh and flavorful, especially the steamed muscles in white wine butter and garlic, amazing!
Ordered the roasted rib eye as it was one of their specials for the day, cooked perfectly and very tender.
Highly recommend if your travels take you to this small town, you won’t be disappointed!

We recently dined here as part of a Catskills getaway, and it was a total waste of our time and money. When we arrived–and were only one of two tables in the place–the server immediately informed us they were already out of about 1/3 of the menu items. We placed our order. Despite having just one other table when she took our order, she got it wrong. When the food arrived, the cacio e pepe pasta I ordered was plain noodles with black pepper. The kitchen had run out of cheese to complete the meal, and so I was given a plate of dry noodles with pepper. Another table near us got up and left because of poor food, poor options, and poor service. (Despite having just four or five tables, the server was very inattentive and distracted. We had to actually wave our hands, after trying more subtle methods to catch her eye, to get her to come and check in on us so we could get the check and leave.) When we complained about the pasta, she thankfully took it off the bill, so we at least didn’t have to pay for that, but when we left the restaurant, we had to go elsewhere because only one of us had an edible meal and we both shared the other meal we’d ordered (which was dry, overcooked chicken). The atmosphere was weird, too–it was very dark with blue string lights everywhere, and weird techno covers of old 80s songs playing. I definitely do not recommend this place. Chappies, around the corner, is much better. Unfortunately, it seems it’s owned by the same people. When the table near us left, we heard the server tell another table “OH well. They’ll go to Chappies and the owner will still make money, because they’re both owned by the same person.”

If you are just in for a meal, this place is great. Good food, great bartenders and waitstaff, good ambience and right in town.

If you are getting married in the area, DO NOT use them for a welcome event, or any event for that matter. They are not equipped to manage large crowds. We worked with the owner to have a welcome dinner here for about ~65 guests outside on the side of the restaurant. The owner greeted us when we arrived and then disappeared for the rest of the event. We had only one bartender outside with us, we ran out of food, and there were no outside lights. Took 15-20 minutes each time we went inside to ask for things because the owner was not on site and the rest of the staff were not a part of the event and/or managing the entire restaurant. While we still had fun greeting our guests, it was a HUGE disappointment and misuse of our money, in our opinion. Not a well tended event at all and not what I would expect for renting out “Event space.” Don’t tell people you can manage it if you can’t. We would have gladly gone somewhere else.

New York City Wanna Be:
Thursday night around 7:00 only one other party at a table.
It’s pretty dark inside folks, just FYI. Need better lighting.
Our appetizers were very delicious:
Calamari salad and the Brie salad
And now for the disappointment:
The rigatoni ala vodka was VERY mediocre & VERY overpriced.
Not enough sauce, nor was the sauce remotely creamy.
Shrimp Linguine with saffron cream and chives. Waitress said saffron gives it its’ color but it looked like regular buttered linguine to me.
The worst part: the bread was terrible! Toasted on the grill and tasted burnt. YUCK. I actually requested that they do not grille it. It was the worst bread honestly…and very disappointing.
Then domestic beer costs $7/bottle. For Real?
We ordered shots and got a rocks glass with about 2 shots in it that was WAY overpriced as well! Nobody asked for that!
I’ll eat somewhere else for sure! 2 out of 5 stars.

The restaurant is cute & warm, an actual old mill. Our 1st time to Roxbury NY & a last minute trip to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. We walked in without a reservation. We were seated within 10 minutes which was very nice but the waitress/host seemed a bit annoyed. To be fair there were only 2 women serving the bar & restaurant and as someone in the service business, it’s not easy BUT it’s not an excuse just understandable. THE FOOD…it was good but I was disappointed in my Smoked Duck app which had three small thin slices of duck. The apricot vinaigrette was the star of the dish. The scalloped potatoes were good & were not soaked in cream & butter which I liked. Hubby had his go to drink, a Manhattan and it was ok. His entree was Pasta Carbonara, it was very good. All in all 3-stars maybe 4 because the ambiance was romantic or maybe that was us LOL.

We came here last night for dinner since we were staying close by at The Roxbury Straton Falls. If you are in town, this place is a MUST!!! It was a quiet Sunday evening when we walked in. Outstanding service and OUT OF THIS WORLD fresh food!!! Must order the Crab Cakes, which are lump crab meat. Also, be sure to order the Goat Cheese Beet Salad. I had the special the Salmon. Food was phenomenal! Even the chef came out to ensure we were satisfied… 5+⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Will definitely return next time we are in the area…..
