Oh God—where do I even begin? This place isn’t worth even one star. Even if you’re starving, don’t go here.

The food quality was absolutely terrible. I’ve been to more than 100 Indian restaurants across over 25 countries, including India itself, and without a doubt this is the worst Indian restaurant I have ever visited. I honestly don’t know who is cooking here.

The biryani was completely tasteless, and the rice tasted old and smelled unpleasant. The naan—well, I have no idea what that was. It certainly wasn’t naan.

The service was just as bad. The lady serving us kept coming to the table just to adjust the tablecloth, which made the whole experience awkward and uncomfortable.

They really need to learn how to cook before opening a restaurant.

Waste of money. This is by far the worst Indian restaurant I’ve ever visited in Europe. The waitress is good and helpful. I think everything is microwaved and the chef never saw NAAN in his life.

After such a disappointing experience, it’s hard to believe this place is still in business. With fake Indian flavors, ridiculous prices, and portions that leave guests hungry, it’s doing a disservice to honest food culture and deserves to close its doors for good.

We visited this Indian restaurant on the weekend before Christmas along with my partner and two cousins, and unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing.

We had initially tried to check Indian restaurant reviews on Google Maps, but none of our mobile networks were working at the time, so we couldn’t access reviews. Had we been able to do so, we definitely would not have walked into this restaurant.

The food portions were shockingly small—perhaps suitable for children, but absolutely not for adults. A normal adult would need at least 2–3 portions to feel satisfied. On top of that, the food was not tasty at all, which made the experience even worse.

After leaving the restaurant and later checking the reviews, we noticed that the majority of customers shared similar feedback, with many even stating that the restaurant should be shut down as it is not doing justice to its purpose. Sadly, our experience fully aligns with those reviews.

The service was another major letdown. The lady serving us was very rude and visibly impatient, even though we only took just a few minutes to decide on our order. This kind of behavior is unacceptable in a hospitality environment.

Overall, this was a very poor experience in terms of food quality, portion size, and service. We would not recommend this place and will certainly not be returning.

Very bad experience . Tried this restaurant as the other ones were full and only this had seats . Walked into this empty restaurant and the waitress seemed the most unpleasant and rude . Ordered chicken biriyani for 16 euros and butter chicken for 17 euros . The worst biriyani I ever had with the lowest portion even to fill someone who has very less appetite like me . Biriyani looks so bad and tasted yuck . Didn’t come with raitha or pappad. Butter chicken had 3 smal pieces of chicken and tasted tomato ketchup . We left the restaurant with high dissatisfaction and empty stomach fir paying 34 euros

-1 rating. One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. This place is an absolute embarrassment to Indian cuisine. The server was blatantly rude and aggressively pushed customers to order more food. They have pathetic portion sizes that wouldn’t satisfy a child, let alone an adult.

The chapatis and naan were a complete joke—dry, tiny, and nowhere close to authentic. The mango lassi was a scam: just milk with mango flavor, nothing fresh, nothing real. This restaurant clearly prioritizes squeezing money out of customers over quality or basic hospitality. Total waste of time, money, and appetite. Avoid at all costs.

My recent visit to La Maharaja in Colmar left me feeling less like a ‘Maharaja’ and more like a pauper, thanks to the bland food and minuscule portions.
While a lot of reviews below have mentioned the service to be rude, we found the Indian lady to be nice and helpful. However the portion sizes were very disappointing as per the price. We also had to ask for extra rice as only one small bowl of half-boiled rice was provided despite ordering Choley, Chicken Korma and Dal Fry.
My taste buds and stomach were decidedly dethroned.

Ignore the negative reviews. Cozy restaurant with home-cooked food run by a nice Punjabi lady. Food is fresh and delicious with the right amount of spice. Both the dhal and channa masala were nice. Good selection of drinks. Is it the best food I’ve ever had. No, but it’s the best Indian in the middle of Colmar. When you’re bored of the same meat and cheese dishes, come here.

I wish I could review with negative star for this disaster of a restaurant. It should be named „Le Scammer“ instead of „Le Maharaja“.
The waitress was rude from start. The taste was horrible and the portion to price ratio was total joke. I always search for Indian restaurant in new places but this experience made me rethink my decision. Better go to some local French cafe and enjoy french food than be disappointed going here.
