Reviews
Always so good we had to come back a seasond time ! I recommend the chocolate chip pancakes!
During my California taco adventure, I stumbled upon a small hole-in-the-wall taco joint that delivered an unforgettable dining experience. Here’s a closer look:
The Food (5/5)
The food here is nothing short of spectacular. I ordered the Al Pastor tacos, prepared Mexican-style, and they were a revelation. Each bite burst with flavor—the perfectly marinated pork was tender, juicy, and complemented by fresh toppings that elevated the entire dish.
I also tried their queso birria and consommé, which were easily among the best I’ve ever had. The birria was rich and savory, with just the right balance of spices, and dipping the tacos into the consommé was pure bliss. The depth of flavor in the consommé was remarkable, making it a must-order for anyone visiting.
The Service (5/5)
The service was top-notch, despite the restaurant’s humble appearance. The staff was friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about the food they were serving. They made sure our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable, going above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
The Atmosphere (4/5)
As a small hole-in-the-wall spot, this place keeps things simple with only outdoor seating. While the outdoor vibe was charming and casual, it might not be for everyone, especially if you’re looking for a more polished or cozy indoor setting. That said, the focus here is clearly on the food, and it more than makes up for the lack of ambiance.
Additional Perks
This spot also offers a Taco Tuesday deal, with tacos priced at just $2.49 each. Considering the outstanding quality, this is an unbeatable deal that will keep you coming back for more.
Final Verdict
This unassuming taco joint proves that great food doesn’t need frills. From the bold flavors of the Al Pastor tacos to the incredible queso birria and consommé, every dish was prepared with care and authenticity. While the atmosphere was simple, the exceptional food and service made it a standout experience.
Final Rating:
Food: 5/5
Service: 5/5
Atmosphere: 4/5
Overall: 4.7/5
If you’re looking for phenomenal tacos at a great price, especially on Taco Tuesday, this is the place to go. Don’t let its modest appearance fool you—it’s a true culinary treasure.
I really appreciate the full vegan menu which you don’t see often at an authentic burrito stand. Ordered the soyrizo quesadilla and was not disappointed. The tortilla was fresh, flavorful beans, and liked the vegan cheese. My friend got the Beach Cali which was beyond good and perfect for walking over to the beach to enjoy.
I’m sure anything on the menu is amazing. If you’re at mission beach, eat at Sara’s!
My only issue is the prices are bit higher than my usual places. So I won’t be going out of my way.
Fish taco? Good. Very fishy but nice crunch. I’m not a corn tortilla kind of guy so it “loses” points.
Their street pastor? Really good. My friend didn’t like the guacamole on it but I did.
The 5 taco deal? Good portion. Beans, fine. I don’t like the taco style wrap (very similar to an enchilada).
Overall, good. Average. Close to my short term rental condo/house. I will still recommend bc it is good (just not amazingly good).
