We recently stopped by The Squirrel Tree Restaurant and Bar in Leavenworth for a quick bite with the kids after a long, busy day. If you are traveling with a family, this is a great spot to keep on your radar. The first thing we noticed was how nice and spacious the interior is; there was plenty of room for our group to settle in comfortably without feeling cramped, which we really appreciated after being on the move all day.

The service was friendly and accommodating from the moment we walked in. The staff seemed happy to have us, and they did a great job making sure we had everything we needed for a smooth family dinner. As for the food, it was a hit with the younger crowd. The kids absolutely loved their chicken tenders and mac-and-cheese, which were served in generous portions.

On the adult side of the table, the clam chowder was a highlight-warm, flavorful, and perfect for the mountain setting. We tried several other dishes as well, and most were very good. My only slight critique would be the ribeye; while it was fine, it was just “okay” compared to the high quality of the other plates we shared. That said, the overall experience was very positive. Between the welcoming atmosphere and the solid menu variety, it is a reliable and enjoyable place to refuel. We would definitely recommend it for a relaxed family meal.

You don’t expect fine cuisine in a restaurant whose name includes the word squirrel, but you get it here. The seasoning are delicate, like you might hope to find in some restaurant in Europe. The food is cooked perfectly (just one example, the bratwurst has a crispy but not burned skin and a juicy interior). The quantities are large and the prices better than reasonable, like you might hope to find in some roadside American restaurant. And there is a wide variety of offerings – I don’t know how they can do such a good job with everything that is one the menu, but as far as I can tell they do. Definitely try it.

I have had food so many times here and it’s always fresh and hot. They even customize based on preference. However the recent experience wasn’t that great. Pizza was too dry and tater tots were more like oil tots. So just giving one star less.

60 years ago I sat at this very table looking out this very window into the snow and when I sat down again today I thought oh look at all the wonderful memories and all the ups and downs that this place has gone through and it just is thriving. Food is good. Maddie is a wonderful hostess and
Anna is a great manager. She helped me out when I decided to suddenly just stay the night rather than cross the icy pass roads in the dark.
Smoke did a beautiful job in remodeling the rooms. It was so well done and clean and beautiful and comfortable. I had a thoroughly wonderful stay and I appreciate their pet policy. Now looking forward to a full waffle combo breakfast with hot coffee. The sausage patty was huge. The Belgian waffles were hot and crisp and the eggs were good. Especially with Jak’s hot sauce made in Leavenworth they support their producers and I particularly liked the really hot one that was we made with orange juice

Title: Tastes Like Home, Feels Like Heart

Review:
The Squirrel Tree is pure magic, man. The kind of place where every bite feels like a warm hug from the universe. From burgers to tacos, salads to whatever the special is—it’s all crafted with love and totally worth diving into.

The vibes are still flowing just like they did in childhood. Even with the fresh upgrades, the soul of the place hasn’t changed a bit. It’s cozy, welcoming, and full of familiar energy.

And the service? Always kind, always tuned in. It’s a must-stop for nourishment of both body and spirit. Much love to this timeless gem!

We stopped short of Leavenworth and ate here instead on a rainy Summer evening. Delightful staff and cozy cabin surroundings. The menu didn’t disappoint. My wife was able to tune her burger to be gluten free without an issue. We often come this way and will make it a point to come back soon.

An easy place to go and eat after spending a day at Stevens for skiing. I shared the prime rib and Philly dip sandwiches. I thought the Philly dip was better and liked having it with a milkshake. It was also nice with live singing happening during dinner time

Again…stumbled onto the Squirrel Tree Restaurant. Out for a drive from Plain to Lake Wenatchee. On the way back just stopped for a cup of coffee. Cute place! The have “Squirrel Droppings” and a “Bloody Squirrel “! We just had the Nachos and they were good! Since that was the only food we got , I can’t really report on other dishes. It’s right, on Highway 2 so an easy stop. It’s also 25 minutes out of Leavenworth so a well placed stop as well.

The decore is classic “cabin” with large rock fireplace, live edge tables and many wall hangings of bears and owls.

Nice place!

We are a group of 8 that chose this stop for breakfast after several hours travel. Upon arrival, mid morning, not very busy. All ordered breakfast, including 2 kids meals. Extremely disappointed with the kids meals. These included only pancake or waffle and a drink, no protein choice, for $9. We ordered a bacon side for $5 which was only 2 slices. The waffle ordered was chocolate chip. It arrived with none and was only a 1/2 waffle. If you have hungry kids, do not order kids meal. The remaining 6 orders were all different. They lacked in flavor and portion size. There was no syrup on the table, asked for syrup was a 2 tablespoon portion packet. 7 of our party, including the 4 and 6 year olds, left hungry and bought overpriced snacks at gas station next door. This was our 4th dine out meal on our trip. The most expensive and most disappointing. I am known for choosing local to support local economy. I can not recommend this establishment for hungry travelers.

Came in at 1:30pm on a Friday. 2 other tables, not busy.

Cowboy burger was actually pretty good! I would order it again. The fries are slightly battered and cooked to perfection.

Wife had fish tacos which she enjoyed, as well as onion rings which were solid.

Immaculately clean bathrooms (with a code)
