This new Laotian restaurant is 10 stars! As you can see by the photos there is great care taken in preparation and presentation. The food is fresh and out of this world tasty. This is not the run of the mill Asian restaurant or fast food by any stretch of the imagination. A restaurant like this in a larger city would be considered “fine” cuisine because it is on every sense. The food is all original, prepared by the chef who holds a culinary degree and it shows not only in presentation but in taste. You need to travel to eat here! You won’t be disappointed!

I have missed Laotian food so much since coming back to Iowa. Their food is authentic and so delicious. Definitely added to my list of favorite restaurants and would recommend it to others. I think their green papaya salad was more thai style (som tum) than lao style (thum mak hoong).

I cannot speak to the authenticity of the food, since this is my first experience with Laotian food. However, I will speak to the deliciousness of it. In our group we had the crab Rangoon, egg rolls, dumplings, veggie/tofu soup, a noodle dish, short ribs, a salad, sticky rice, and a rice dish. It was all great. It was very flavorful, the sauces were good, the dishes were fresh, and the portions were huge. I highly recommend, and will definitely be back.

Decided to give this a try last night. Had the lo-mein with beef. Delicious. Very large portion. My wife had stir fried vegetables with chicken. Equally as tasty and large plate full of food. Also had an order of chicken egg rolls. Yummy. You won’t go wrong here!

I’ve been here twice so far and I’m excited to go back to try more dishes. I’ve gotten my food to-go because I’m just passing by on my way back to Iowa City. There aren’t a lot of vegetarian, main course options on the menu, but the staff have been very accommodating with providing information about the dishes and substituting tofu or extra vegetables for their meat options. The restaurant itself is small and kinda cute. The large TV in the corner doesn’t add anything to the ambiance, but that feature seems impossible to get away from these days. On my last visit their ceiling in the hallway to the restrooms was leaking and there was a plastic tub and water on the floor. There were also no paper towels in the ladies’ room. There were napkins available, which was better than nothing, but still inconvenient.
Most importantly, the food has been excellent. I’ve gotten their Pad See You with tofu twice now. The wide, flat rice noodles are dense, decadent, yumminess and there are always plenty of veggies and tofu in the dish. On my first visit I ordered the Loas Style Stir Fry with no meat. It was unique, and we both enjoyed it, but I found it too sweet and I probably won’t order it again. I’ll never not order their vegetable egg rolls though! Those have been hot and crunchy and very yummy. Five come in an order, making them a great appetizer to share (if you must). On my second visit I asked about getting a vegetarian version of their spring rolls, which normally come with shrimp. I was told that was no problem & while I was waiting for my order a woman came out of the kitchen to ask if I’d like tofu in them. They were great! I’ve also ordered the sticky rice twice. The first time it was a little dried out, but the second time it was perfect. Sticky rice doesn’t always travel well, the variation could be a problem with spending so long in the car. One of my absolute favorite things about this restaurant is their sauces. Each of the sauces they provide is recognizable, but they all have a little more going on, flavor-wise, than what you’d get at other Asian places. I normally find sweet & sour sauce to be a sweet and boring. Their version is sweet, but also yummy with an appropriate amount of sour and some other flavors. Ditto the other dipping sauces provided with the sticky rice & various rolls.
Is it a 5-star restaurant? No, but the good food and friendly employees ensure that I’ll be back. You should check it out, too.

Glad this place is here in West Liberty. High quality, delicious, and reasonably priced. We had the vegetable egg rolls, larb chicken salad, kang som soup, and a noodle dish. Large portions and great service. Everything tasted fresh with really good flavors. Lucky to have such a nice place in a small town.
