Definitely get take-out. Great food, very good service. I’ve had better chicken schwarma at another place in Portland, but overall I enjoyed this meal. There was a lot of food, could have split it into 2 meals. They have a lot of options too. I recommend trying something new here. Very affordable too.

We came down from Mid Coast to conduct business and checked reviews for Mediterranean food while we were in Portland.
The Dina’s experience is like going to someone’s house for dinner and they cook for you. Authentic, homemade, perfect flavor and even butter brushed on the crust of the baklava. There are refrigerated cases with all the favorite salads and sides and then some.
The flat bread is bagged and for sale in baskets and the baklava is kept heated so it’s perfectly warm when you bite into it.
The wraps are huge, at least a foot long. We had chicken shwarma and the gyro.
The owner instructed his employee to make sure the fillings were end to end across so that the patron had a full 1st bite of meat and veg and not just wrap.
What you need to know:
It’s a little hole in the wall, on a really busy road, very limited parking and just 2 tables inside. There are 2 picnic tables outside if you can park, but this is definitely a take and go. I gave atmosphere 5 stars because although small and simple, it feels like walking into an authentic Mediterranean home or establishment.
I’ve been in every state, lived in 15 and Dina’s by far is the best Mediterranean food that I’ve eaten in this country.
Portland’s best for certain!

Dinas serves exceptional quality, well seasoned flavors, generous portions, and affordable prices for healthy, fresh food. As a vegetarian with a shellfish allergy, this has place been one of the few places I feel confident eating at. I love that they don’t hold back with flavors. If you are considering giving this place a try, absolutely do!

Hands down, one of the best Mediterranean meals I’ve ever eaten. The bread was pillowy soft, the dolmas were insanely moist and packed with flavor, and my husband says the shawarma was so good that he wished he ordered more. Everything was incredible. They make the falafel fresh right in front of you, and it was easily some of the most flavorful, perfectly crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside falafel I’ve ever had. This is officially my favorite Mediterranean spot — nothing else compares.

By far, this is an excellent Middle Eastern food spot no matter where you compare it to. The price, quality and quantity is excellent. The food freshness is excellent. The quality of the ingredients is good, and on a random note, the value in the spices they sell is excellent.
All this excellence would normally arrive you at five stars, but the only thing holding it back from a five star affordable middle eastern food joint rating is the way the owner speaks to his employees.
Having a great food joint is cool, but treating your employees well is even cooler. While I don’t think it’s terrible, I do believe that the owner is culturally use to different behaviors that are more common someplace else.
The food is worth it, but the owner needs to learn how to speak to employees, and that yelling at them in front of customers is unacceptable. By chance, we speak Arabic, and could listen to him be a jerk to his staff infront of us. Not cool.

A foodie friend recommended – said the falafel was excellent. I went with minimal expectations (my nana was a fine Armenian cook – it’s been decades since I’ve had had anything to compare.) I didn’t expect the variety of home made dips, deserts and fare. Spent twice what I expected. Another very particular foodie friend came along and also highly recommends the falafel. I had a delicious beef kabob and all these dips. Recommend: bring a friend. Go big! Chef owner is friendly and happy to quickly explain all the choices and countries of origin.

The food was decent a little salty though. The guy at cash register looked high as hell couldn’t keep his eye’s open. The food took a long time about 1/2 hour. Also the place was cold i had to wear my jacket while i had lunch. So its ownerships fault for not having 2 people work at same time one guy cant do everthing. Hence why my food took so long. I will come back though the hummus was fire . And they only take cash . They say its perferd.

We had a very similar sounding experience to another reviewer here. We went in the afternoon when no one else was there – we were the ONLY customers. Ordered falafel plate and some other things. Got back to our hotel about 10-15 minutes later only to find one of our things missing from the order (again, not busy, no other customers). We called the restaurant immediately to find a resolution only to be met with the owner 1) first claiming to not have any idea who we could possibly be (I doubt they had a swarm of customers in the interim), 2) then claiming we never ordered the item in the first place and therefore, 3) we weren’t charged for the item. Let me tell you – when you’re ordering in the restaurant in person, you both know exactly what you’re ordering and what you’re paying for. But, as I continue to warn my family, check your order before you leave anywhere as there are always unreputable business owners waiting to rip you off. After trying to talk reasonably with this guy, it was obvious he wasn’t going to admit his mistake or refund our money for the missing item. But, I’m warning anyone reading reviews here, just go elsewhere. I’ve included a before and after picture of the food we got – see how much we just threw away because it was such poor food. The falafels were okay, but the hummus was sour and gritty, the “salad” was some disgusting cut up cabbage mess, the dolmas were mushy and gross, the garlic naan was flavorless and the two desserts were okay but certainly not great. Disgraceful.

Wow, this place is authentic. From amazing Greek food to other middle eastern dishes like Turkish delight or baklava for dessert, they make really delicious food. Their authenticity continues throughout from the decor to staff attire to the music. Reasonable pricing and sizeable portions. You won’t be disappointed.
