Baja’s Mexican Food in Westerly, RI is fantastic! The food and service were both excellent. I ordered the rice bowl with chipotle chicken, and it was packed with flavor. The portions were generous—I had plenty left over to enjoy the next day! They offer both black and pinto beans and a wide variety of toppings, so you can customize your meal just how you like it. My partner got the wet burrito, which came with tortilla chips, and he was very happy with both the size and the flavor. We’re so glad this option exists here in South County—we will definitely be back!

The food is surprisingly good. Except last time one of the guys gave one of my birria tacos to a girl he was trying to flirt with. Then I had to sit there and wait for the guy in the back to make another one. Only erked me because I had already been sitting and waiting for a while. But at least I had something assuming to watch.
But on a side note the food here is Hella fresh and delicious. And the service is USUALLY very professional.

Shrimp tacos were awesome! Everything tasted so fresh. The crew behind the counter were so polite and working so well together that the long line moved quickly. Our family will definitely be back. Put ony 4 stars for atmosphere because it’s quite simple inside, but you don’t need it to be fancy, just good.

I went to bajas with my girlfriend for the first time on 9/12/25 at 5:00pm. I was in line waiting to order our food when I watched the dude preparing everyone’s food make a lady ahead of us some shrimp tacos. The guy put the shrimp on the tacos with tongs then adjusted them with his hands. He then proceeded to slide a chicken quesadilla down the line for another customer ahead of us with the same gloves he had touched the shrimp with. I watched this man cross contaminate every taco and rice bowl and every single handle for the food served and containers for other customers orders. I have a shrimp allergy and decided to opt out of ordering anything because if he was so careless on the line imagine how careless the employees are during food prep and storage. Which is a shame because the food looked delicious. We ended up ordering my girlfriend’s food only, paid and left. The staff need to be re-trained on the importance of allergies and how critical it is to handle food properly. Especially shellfish which can be a deadly allergy to many people.

This is a hybrid similar to a Chipotle. There are tables to eat at, but you must go through the cafeteria style line to choose your meal, unless you order from a small menu that lets you go directly to the register. There are many selections to make your choice of burritos, chimichangas, tacos, etc. The food is delicious, I’ll say that. Everything I’ve tried was spot on. If you can deal with the concept, you’ll like the food.

Excellent tacos, fresh ingredients. Service was very good; a little difficult to communicate with some of the non-english speaking staff. Atmosphere was pretty good. Will come back and give the burritos a try next time.
