I recently ordered the fried chicken lunch with yams and collard greens from R Kitchen, and I must say, it was a delightful experience! The food arrived quickly and was piping hot. The fried chicken was seasoned perfectly—just the right amount of flavor without being too salty.
The yams were a standout; they were clearly made from fresh ingredients and not from a can, boasting a beautiful bright orange color. They tasted delicious! While the collard greens were good, I personally felt they could use a touch more seasoning, but that’s just my preference.
Overall, I highly recommend R Kitchen. The customer service was excellent, and the quality of the food deserves a solid five stars!

DELICIOUS SOUL!I had the opportunity about 2 weeks ago to venture to R Kitchen, located in Lakewood, California.
It was most certainly worth the trip. The food was freshly made. I order the fried Chicken Wings(4) along with Collard Greens, Mac and Cheese and Black Eyed Peas.
The portion sizes were very good. I actually enjoyed my entree for lunch and dinner, which was great. The food is seasoned well, the food is fresh, delicious and most certainly homemade.
The waitstaff is very friendly and helpful with your ordering. R Kitchen has a diverse menu of options to select and the dessert, which are made fresh look so delicious; although I didn’t try it – Maybe next time!
If you’re in the Lakewood, California area or just looking for a good home-cooked soul food restaurant – Definitely try R Kitchen, you will not be disappointed – Until next time!

Never wrote a review on google before but I feel like I need to express myself and share my thoughts.
I’m constantly looking for new places to eat and came across this on google review. According to the reviews, this place is great so I decided to give it a try.
I work from home and place a phone order. The man told me 15 minutes but I gave about 25-30 minutes before leaving the house. Got to the restaurant and waited an additional 10 minutes for the food to be ready. I wasn’t too happy about this because my time was limited and I had a lot of work to do.
I order the pork ribs with mash potatoes and mac n cheese.
1. The mash potatoes is very salty. I’m not a fan of salty food.
2. Mac N Cheese is average nothing awe or special about it
2. The pork ribs doesn’t taste fresh. It’s very hard and gainy like leftover food from yesterday. I feel like they server me leftover and added bbq sauce. I ate two pieces and threw it away.
4. I love corn bread but the one they server me tasted stale. There’s no flavor at all. The taste and texture just reminds me of leftover.
I don’t write reviews but I don’t see how this place has such a high ratings with poor quality food.
The only thing I like about this place was the pictures on the wall that makes it feel like home. I will not be ordering food from there again.

I had the succulent oxtails, Mac-n-cheese, collard greens and yams. My husband had the tender and juicy pork chops, collards, Mac-n-cheese, and blackeyed peas, and my son had a cheese burger and homemade fries. I also had pink lemonade Kool-Aid and cornbread. The food was well-seasoned and the flavors complimented each other; the cornbread tasted like cake, the helpings were generous, and the owner had a beautiful spirit and was bery hospitality. We didn’t wait long and we enjoyed the quaint little space. Afterwards, all we needed were rollaway beds for a nap. The owner jokingly offered the chairs in the lobby as a 40-minute air b-n-b!

Was sooo good I’m from Hollandale, Mississippi this was so close to home probably even better great customer service fresh food so hot. I had to wait a second for it to cool off the best candy yams and fried chicken. Thank you so much for a great lunch.

Welp, I was really excited to try this place, but sadly it did not live up to expectations. I ordered a fried chicken plate with greens, mac and cheese and potato salad. None of the food had much flavor. You’d think it wasn’t a black owned spot tbh. In the pic, you can tell the mac is short on pepper and it probably wasn’t seasoned with anything else . The chicken was pretty dry and I could not get through it. The greens were doused in salt, and the potato salad was nothing but potatoes and mayonnaise smh. I’ve had some store bought potato salad with more flavor. Price was decent for the amount of food but I definitely have no desire to come back.

Such an amazing experience! We are from out of town and always look for soul food. We were beyond satisfied with each and every aspect! Food, flavors, staff, hospitality…. Literally EVERYTHING! My boyfriend even left his phone there and they picked it up and saved it for him!
