I finally revisited Long Xing Ji after they moved, and I’m so glad I did. Their new Baldwin Park location is clean, bright, and you can see the staff hand-wrapping dumplings right by the steamers—always a good sign.

The crab roe soup dumpling is still the must-get item. It’s one giant dumpling served in its own basket, with a thick wrapper that holds a ton of rich, buttery crab broth. Sip it with the straw, then dip the skin in ginger vinegar—perfect combo.

The crab roe XLB has a thin, delicate wrapper and is packed with savory crab fragrance. Lots of soup inside for such a small dumpling. The fish XLB is lighter and cleaner-tasting, with a clear broth and no fishy smell—great for alternating bites.

The crispy eel surprised me again: super crunchy edges, lightly sweet glaze, and addictive enough that we finished the whole plate fast. The Wuxi-style pork rib was tender, slightly sweet, and came off the bone with barely any effort. We also liked the pepper-salt pastry, served hot with a flaky shell and a savory carrot filling.

Still one of my favorite soup dumpling spots in LA. Consistent, fresh, and worth the drive.

This restaurant has my favorite xiaolongbao! The taste is beyond words. Every dish is delicious! You’ll fall in love after just one visit. This time I ordered their signature dishes, and they were all 5-star .
“Wuxi Pork Ribs” and “Liangxi Crispy Eel” are incredible. They’re all sweet, good choices for kids.
Those who love sweet-flavored food will definitely enjoy these dishes.

The crab roe soup dumplings are quite large, with plenty of soup inside and a rich, fresh crab flavor. The skin is thin, so you have to be careful when eating them or the soup will spill out. They’re also very hot when served.
The Liangxi crispy eel is well done—crispy on the outside while still tender inside. It has a sweet flavor that’s very typical of Jiangnan cuisine and pairs well with rice. The Wuxi-style spare ribs are also good. The meat is tender and falls off the bone easily. The sauce is on the sweeter side and well-seasoned. The Yulan pastry has a soft and chewy outer layer with a savory meat filling inside. It tastes best when eaten hot.Overall, the flavors feel quite authentic. The owner is from Wuxi, and the cooking seems traditional. It’s not easy to find this kind of Jiangnan cuisine in Los Angeles, so it’s worth trying if you’re looking for Wuxi-style dishes.

Visited Long Xing Ji after hearing about it for years, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Watching the staff hand-make the crab soup dumplings was impressive, and the flavor was rich and comforting. The Wuxi-style dishes reminded me of home — slightly sweet, very balanced, and clearly made with care. Service was friendly and the food came out fresh and hot. Definitely a place I’d return to when craving authentic Jiangnan flavors.

Had dinner here and it ended up being a really good meal. The crab roe soup dumpling is definitely the dish to get — super flavorful and packed with broth, with a really nice crab aroma. The crab roe tofu was another favorite, soft tofu with a rich crab sauce that feels really comforting.

We also had their xiaolongbao, stir-fried rice cakes, and a few small sides. Everything tasted clean and well-seasoned, and the portions were generous. The XLB were juicy and the rice cakes had great texture.

If you’re in the area and craving dumplings or Shanghainese dishes, this place is definitely worth trying.

One of my longtime favorite Jiangzhe-style restaurants, Long Xing Ji, has moved to Baldwin Park – and I’m happy to report it’s still the same wonderful food and team!

I used to stop by their old location in the 99 Ranch plaza every time I went grocery shopping—grabbing a steamer of soup dumplings was basically my shopping reward. Now in their new space, everything tastes just as I remember. The kitchen is open, so you can watch the chef hand-wrap and steam each order right behind the glass. Freshness really shows—and tastes—in every bite.

Juicy Pork Dumplings (sweet)
These are the ones I always get. They have that signature Wuxi-style sweet and savory flavor, and one bite instantly brings me back home. So comforting and authentic.

Juicy Pork & Crab Bun
For just $8.99, this is such a great deal! Best enjoyed hot—poke a straw in, and the golden broth flows right out. The filling is packed with crab roe and pork, super satisfying.

Deep Fried Crispy Eel
Sweet, crunchy, and perfectly fried. The eel is cleaned well with no fishy taste, and the crispy caramelized coating is addictive. This was the first dish we finished at our table!

House Golden Crispy Cake (Yu Lan Bing)
A must-try if you like chewy, sticky textures. The glutinous rice wrapper is soft and stretchy, wrapped around a juicy, sweet-savory pork filling. So good!

Cilantro Mixed with Pork Kidney
Tender, fresh, and clean-tasting—no off flavors at all. Light and refreshing with a nice cilantro kick.

House Spareribs
Classic sweet and savory braised ribs, tender and perfect with rice.

Stir-Fried Bean Seedlings
Fresh, crisp, and simply prepared—a great balance to the richer dishes.

If you’re missing authentic Wuxi flavors or just looking for a solid, home-style Jiangzhe spot, Long Xing Ji is still my go-to. Same taste, same heart—just a new address. Definitely worth the visit!

As a Nanjing native living in LA and constantly craving real home cooking, I can say this place is truly authentic. The sweetness is refined, not heavy, the flavors are slow-cooked and comforting, and every bite tastes like Jiangnan. Rare and precious in LA.
