Old school thick pan and thin crust pizza. Even have a stuffed pizza! Stuffed could use some dipping sauce. Pan was delicious and very thick. Thin was good and loaded with ingredients. Barone’s of Glen Ellyn is a true local staple and easily one of the best pizzerias in the area. I’ve been coming here for years and still make a point to stop by whenever I can.
Their thin crust pizza is excellent — the dough is made fresh daily from scratch, and you can really taste the difference. The cheese is also shredded in-house, which adds to the quality and consistency of the pizza. It’s simple, well-executed, and exactly what a great Chicago-area thin crust should be.
The pasta dishes are solid, and one standout for us is the Venetian gnocchi. I like to swap the vodka sauce for Alfredo, which takes it to another level — it’s rich, comforting, and one of my wife’s favorite dishes on the menu.
The deep dish (pan pizza) is also very good, though it can vary slightly depending on the dough that day since everything is made fresh. Still delicious overall, and I recommend ordering it with light sauce, as they’re generous with it.
The recent renovation really elevated the restaurant — it looks cleaner, brighter, and more modern while still keeping its classic feel.
If you’re from Glen Ellyn or the surrounding suburbs, you already know Barone’s is a must-go. It’s one of those places everyone recommends for a reason. Consistently good food, quality ingredients, and a strong local reputation. Highly recommended.

We cater many events and order pizza, dine in or cary out…2 or 200, the food quality and taste/fressness is ALWAYS deliciously perfect! This is a perfect choice for generous portions and reasonable prices. The BEST pizza in the world! They’re always timely and really appreciate their customers and it shows!

Best stuffed pizza in the area. Their staff is freindly and the interior is cozy. I love their food! I had a stuffed pizza with sausage and spinach, and it was delicious! The crust was nice and crispy, and the topings were very generous. Great value for the price. I’ll definitely be coming here again when I’m in the area.

SO DELICIOUS! Tonight we ordered a deep dish with sausage, green pepper, onion, and fresh mushroom… so dang good! Placed my order over the phone and the manager took my order. He was incredibly kind! I arrived 10 minutes early for my order and was informed it would be an additional 20-25 from my pickup time. I was okay with that because they were extremely busy. I even ordered desserts togo. After watching people get comp either 10% or desserts and even watching people say forget it when they came to pickup their order I was fine with waiting. The front desk staff was doing their best with making sure the orders went out as quickly as the cooks yelled order up. BUT I get home and the quality of the pizza was definitely not worth the wait or money. The pizza looked like it was missing pieces and tossed in the box and it was a lot thinner than normal. 6 minute drive home and the pizza was cold. I won’t be going back.

Normally, I would give them 5 stars, but they recently changed their gluten free crust to something that is pretty awful and sticks to the paper. I ate some paper that was stuck to the bottom of the pizza. When I called to let them know, nothing was done and I was hung up on before I was finished talking.

Barones of Glen Ellyn has consistently produced exceptional, delicious pizza that is definitely a rise above the majority of Italian restaurant pizzerias in the greater Glen Ellyn and Wheaton area.
This time around we ordered a family size 16 inch cheese and sausage pizza. The sausage is exceptional and Barones gives you a generous portion of it on your pizza.

The pizza I ordered was so much different than what I had ordered in the past… completely different… and not good.
I have been eating here since they opened.
The sausage has changed the pan pizza is now a loft of bread with a little cheese and sauce on it.
