Not only the portions, but consider you’re also getting BBQ that doesn’t taste generic. The beans taste smoked. The brisket is thick and perfectly flavored. Plenty of fries. Cornbread is a little dry but still good. The sauces are really good. All of them have unique flavors.
Lastly the service. This is one of the few food places that shows you your order before you leave and makes sure you are good with sauces before you leave. I haven’t ordered from the chilis or Sonny’s down the road in Mount Dora because they often forget our food or mess up the order. Just knowing my food comes correct here is enough to come back on my break for lunch.
Highly recommend…..Had my usual order of Brisket and the side of cheesey potatoes….(Smoked cheeseburger is a must try)
Got the 3 meat sampler ( pulled pork, sliced turkey, and brisket). Also got a brisket sandwich, pint of baked beans, fries, Mac n cheese, collards, and cornbread.
All the food was pretty good and on point for a chain bbq place. Only thing I think could of used work was the fries and maybe the collards. The fries were cold and old. The collards had pieces of tomatoes in it (which we did not like). Meat had good flavor, smoke profile, and was tender. I do admit for the price I felt like the portion for the 3 meat sampler could of been more. The portion for the brisket sandwich was perfect.
Staff was very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere was great and clean.
I went back the very next day because I needed to know if I just caught them at the perfect moment with a fresh cut — or if they’re consistently that good.
Update 2/16/26:
Brisket was perfect again. So it’s not luck. The kitchen clearly knows what they’re doing. This is top-tier BBQ and it’s consistent.
Now for the issue.
Front-of-house service needs serious improvement. One staff member in particular lacks timing and awareness. Constant interruptions mid-bite, hovering at the tables without purpose, and not reading when guests actually need something versus when they’re trying to enjoy their meal.
Good service isn’t about constant presence — it’s about awareness and timing. Right now, that’s missing. You can’t train the person you hired. She doesn’t get it. Your born with common sense or your not. She doesn’t have any. Meanwhile hopefullyICE shows up and can remove your trash for you.
The food is elite. The kitchen is dialed in. But the floor service doesn’t match the quality coming out of the smoker.
Fix the service and this place is unstoppable
PS the banana pudding and lemonade as well as the pulled pork is phenomenal.
