This bar has got to be one of the best experiences I have had in the world. Memorable in every way. The staff are top! The bartender actually came to our table to explain the techniques and tastes of Absinthe in the bar. Knowledgable and loves what he does. He went above and beyond to give us an experience that was a great memory, and meant a lot. The bar staff are also friendly and know their work well. Drinks are just perfect, one of the top tastes of the spirit drinks I have ever had. They also have a rotating menu of drinks to complement their walls of exotic drinks and spirits from all over the world. Classy and sophisticated in every way. A great space for a drink and also, thanks to the staff for their professionalism and passion for a good classy experience!

I can’t say enough good things about this place. It’s one of my favorite bars to go to probably ever. I love the atmosphere . I love the vibe. Craft cocktail drinks are always amazing. I haven’t found one yet that wasn’t delicious. Google Maps doesn’t do enough to bring this one to the surface. It’s hard to find. But find it it’s well worth it

Very friendly staff, a pleasant atmosphere, but there is no food here.

If you just want to switch off, relax, and hang out, this is a perfect option. It’s also open until 2 AM, which is pretty rare for Omaha. Overall, I definitely recommend it.☺️

If you’re in downtown Omaha and looking for a cocktail experience that stands out, this eclectic bar is a must-visit. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere hits you with its vibrant mix of vintage charm and modern flair. The dim lighting, quirky decor, and cozy seating create the perfect backdrop for a night out, whether you’re with friends or on a date.

The cocktail menu is where this place truly shines. It’s far from your typical drink list—expect inventive concoctions that blend unexpected flavors with local ingredients. The bartenders are true artisans, taking the time to craft each drink with precision and care, all while engaging with guests and offering expert recommendations based on your preferences. If you’re someone who enjoys exploring new flavors, this is the place to do it.

The service here is exceptional. Attentive, knowledgeable, and personable, the staff adds to the overall experience, making you feel like a regular from the moment you walk in. Whether you’re a cocktail enthusiast or someone just looking for a fun night out, this bar delivers on every front.

Overall, it’s a gem in downtown Omaha, offering not just drinks but an unforgettable experience that will have you coming back for more.

If you are looking for a drink in the Old Market, you have plenty of options. But if you are looking for an experience, you go to The Berry & Rye.
From the moment you walk up to the unassuming entrance (no flashy neon signs here), you are transported. The vibe is pure pre-Prohibition cool—dim lighting, dark wood, tin ceilings, and the hum of music that sets the perfect tone without drowning out conversation. It feels like a place where time slows down just enough for you to appreciate the details.
And the details are where this place truly shines, specifically behind the bar.
The cocktail menu is fantastic—experimental, seasonal, and rooted in classics—but the real magic happens when you hand the reins over to Tim and Luke. These two are not just bartenders; they are true mixologists in every sense of the word.
Watching them work is a show in itself. They possess an encyclopedic knowledge of spirits, bitters, and flavor profiles that is honestly intimidating until you realize how approachable they make it. I watched Luke effortlessly explain the nuance of a specific whiskey to a customer, breaking down the mash bill in a way that was fascinating rather than pretentious. Meanwhile, Tim was down the bar carving ice by hand, prepping a drink that looked less like a cocktail and more like a work of art.
I asked for something “spirit-forward but with a summer twist,” and what they delivered was absolute alchemy. They didn’t just pour a drink; they built it. House-made syrups, perfectly balanced acids, and a garnish that tied the aromatics together perfectly. It’s rare to find bartenders who can improvise with such precision, but Tim and Luke have a chemistry and a skillset that you usually only find in the top bars of New York or London.
The service is attentive without hovering, and despite the high-end nature of the drinks, the hospitality feels warm and Midwestern.
The Verdict:
Whether you are a cocktail nerd who wants to geek out over amaro with Tim and Luke, or you just want the best Old Fashioned of your life in a stunning setting, The Berry & Rye is the place. It is hands down the jewel of Omaha’s cocktail scene.
Pro Tip: Don’t be afraid to go off-menu. Tell Tim or Luke what flavors you generally like, and let them work their magic. You won’t be disappointed.
