Still amazing after 38 years. Hand-pulled jajangmyeon with a no-nonsense traditional jajang sauce is spot on, and the Mongolian beef was cooked perfectly.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. Great service; even though we arrived a few minutes before closing, we were greeted with smiles and respect. The food was very good, a bit too much fat, but that’s a matter of taste. Overall, this restaurant is highly recommended!

I recently dined at this authentic Chinese and Korean restaurant and had an exceptional experience. The owner, incredibly kind and attentive, took the time to recommend dishes featuring fresh fish and seasonal vegetables. Each dish was a delight—rich in flavor, perfectly balanced, and truly authentic. The atmosphere added to the experience, with a warm and welcoming ambiance that made us feel right at home. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving delicious, genuine Chinese and Korean cuisine!

Overall the food was good and it’s worth trying, but if you like spicy foods then you should know they don’t have it. The disches were good and really filling, quite big portions. Kimchi was not Korean-approved. It was sweet and not spicy at all.
Great service and nice atmosphere at a restaurant but quite cold at times.

SanWang, a well-known restaurant serving Korean Chinese cuisine (中華料理 중화 요리) in The City for nearly three decades that is located on Post Street in the heart of Japantown 日本町,which destination can be reached by riding Muni Buses 2, 38, 38R, 22 (maybe even 31 or 1 if you do not mind walking around a few blocks to explore the historic Fillmore District.) The owners are actually six brothers whose family like many other ethnic Chinese living in South Korean were originally from Shandong Peninsula which consists one of Big Eight Famous Chinese cuisine (Note: its old spelling Shantung also represents a special type of silk plain weave fabric used to make sombreros, Estilo Sinaloense. )
My favorite dish at SanWang is Chǎomǎmiàn (炒碼麵) (Jjamppong) a spicy noodle soup in red chili generously flavored with green vegetables (chives, bok choy, you choy, or sometimes Napa, depends), black mushrooms, meat (beef or pork) and a variety of seafood including Tiger shrimps (size 16/20 at least 4-6 pieces), scallops, clams (small but in shell), squid, etc. The noodles are house made possibly by the Brother No. 5 who appeared in “Martin Yan Mondays” (“If Yan Can Cook You Can Cook”) on KQED in 1980s.
Other signature dishes of SanWang are jajangmyeon(炸醬麵) Tangsuyuk (탕수육) (糖醋肉-Sweet Soup Pork) Kkanpunggi (깐풍기) (乾烹鷄-similar to General Zuo Chicken) Kkanpung saeu (깐풍새우) (宮寶蝦- Kung Pao shrimp) etc. Also, SanWang is said to process its own sea cucumber and you can try there or buy some to cook at home. SanWang is a popular destination for locals, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, White and even Pilipino like to host parties of banquets there. A few times I ran into a big table of 10-12 SFPD officers having a big lunch at SanWang.
Finally, I have heard a lot about another popular Korean Chinese restaurant called SanTung 山東小館(actually walked by many times seeing lines of usually young people on Irving between 11th and 12th in the Inner Sunset but never have tried its food as I am quite honestly skeptical if not worried about any popular restaurant resulted from social media frenzy. However, I will pay a visit in the next few weeks when I am roaming down there then give “my two cents” solely based on food quality, cooking skill, and overall environment without being influenced by or from any social media frenzy.

I understand this is a traditional Chinese restaurant. I visited based on a friend’s recommendation,
but I’m not sure if it suits my taste.
I ordered jajangmyeon and jjamppong. While the vegetables and seafood were plentiful and fresh compared to the overall portion size,
the noodles were rough, and the flavor was bland.

Clean, fresh, high-quality, and authentic Korean-Chinese food with a nice atmosphere. This family-owned business takes pride in fine cuts of meat and seafood. The sizzling rice soup surprises with succulent shrimp, water chestnuts, and scallops. The Tangsuyuk pork had large pieces of pineapple and wood ear mushrooms. The Mapa tofu was not too greasy. It was a much nicer experience than many of the other places in Jtown with a hour-long wait list.

I’ve been coming here for years. Service is great, the wait staff is very friendly and the owner is super nice. I always order shrimp with hot peoper sauce #33. It is my go-to dish every single time… delicious! I’m not sure, but it may be lightly tossed with corn starch and deep-fried to perfection. Because it has a nice light crunch tossed in a savory slightly sweeten sauce, mix with garlic, onions, peas, and carrots. We usually order the dry fried chicken #78. It’s smothered with garlic and a light sauce, but we decided to have the Mu Shu pork instead. It was good, even had leftovers, but not the shrimp dish! Devoured it!! So, if you want to try something new, order #33. If you have a party of 4 or more, definitely order 2, and if you decide to order the dry fried chicken too, also 2. Make sure you toss your chicken around in the sauce with all that yummy minced garlic!!
Wished I ordered it now instead of the Mu shu pork! Guess I’ll be heading back soon!!
