I stopped into Aladdin Mediterranean Kitchen expecting a quick, casual lunch, but the experience ended up being slower and more expensive than anticipated.
The staff seemed a bit unsure, especially around pricing. The prices were misstated when we ordered, and when I mentioned the difference at checkout, I was told “oh, the prices must have changed.” It wasn’t a huge confrontation, but an apology or clarification would’ve gone a long way.
What we expected to be a fast stop took around 20 minutes, which again isn’t outrageous, just unexpected for the type of meal.
I ordered the kafta kabob, and the presentation was very minimal: a single kabob with one mushroom, a few grape tomatoes, a slice of pepper, and a quarter of an onion. The onion was mostly raw and pretty overpowering, which lingered after the meal. It didn’t look very intentional or appetizing.
I also tried the spicy hummus. The flavor was good, but it was a bit over-salted, which took away from it.
My partner ordered a panini, which was fine nothing bad about it, just fairly forgettable.
The biggest issue was value. The total came to about $50 for lunch for two, and for that price, the food and experience didn’t really match expectations.
Overall, it wasn’t an awful meal, but between the pricing confusion, service, and underwhelming presentation, it’s hard to see myself going back when there are other Mediterranean spots that offer more for the money.
Our adventure started by visiting several stores. The streets are very nice, mixed with cool spots to explore, new cuisines, history and culture.
Then we concluded or day at Aladin restaurant, picked after a little research online.
For a Saturday night after 20:00 it was pretty nice and quiet. We were greeted by a pleasant hostess, and our waiter Gary was very friendly and patiently explained our menu options.
Husband and I ordered the same dishes, the ‘Lamb Kabob plate’, where mine had french fries and vegetables. Husband had his lamb with double order of steamed veggies.
The food was really good. The lamb was marinated, skewered and grilled ~ cooked perfectly. The vegetables tasted fresh, too. For drinks we shared a Samuel Adams draft beer.
Overall it was a great experience. I really liked the taste of the green sauce to dip the lamb in. I don’t eat ketchup or mayonnaise. I poured sauce on almost everything.
It’s worth it to try out this restaurant if you’re in Fredericksburg!
