Really wonderful addition to this neighborhood incredible ambience probably the nicest setting of any restaurant in Rockaway for this kind of vibe. The food was really great and had an interesting diverse menu which I felt met a wide variety of tastes. I think I gotta go back and try the Chito flavored chicken, which isn’t something I would normally do but the fish tacos were excellent. Definitely look forward to going back and it is just a great little escape in this area.

I went to Sal Y Lima today with my son and daughter, and I’m still thinking about how incredible everything was. We ordered the street corn and guac with chips to start, absolutely amazing! My son got the chicken burrito, my daughter had the chicken taco and the bulgogi taco, I had the shrimp tacos, and we brought cod tacos home for my father.
I kid you not, every single thing was to die for. Usually, even at good restaurants, there’s at least one item that’s just “okay.” Not here. Everything was just delicious!!!
And the atmosphere? Such a vibe. The owner personally greets customers, which makes the whole experience feel warm and welcoming.
I gain nothing by writing this. I just genuinely can’t rave enough about this place. It’s officially my go-to taco spot in Rockaway!

We love this place and have been here on multiple occasions. They always have delicious frozen drinks with different flavors. I had the orange margarita tonight. It was delicious. My favorite taco is the Seoul Surfer. The bulgogi is so moist and tender. The Cesar salad is super fresh and tasty. Get it with the avocado. You won’t be disappointed. They have a really cool appetizer Tres Amigos. It’s tortilla chips with three different sauces. All so tasty. The yuca fries are really good too.

It was literally chopped romaine dressing and a grilled chicken, which is additional. The cocktails are amazing.
It’s not a type of restaurant to stuff yourself more, so just to talk and catch up on some lost time with friends and nip on finger food. The staff are very attentive and communicative. I will revisit later on to see if the menu changes since it’s a new restaurant. It’s nice to have something like this in the rockaways.

I had really been looking forward to trying this place for a while watching as it was “coming soon”, etc. Unfortunately, The negative tone was set from the moment we walked in. I actually had to say Hi to the hostess first, and her only response was, “Do you have a reservation?” No hello or greeting, (It was 5:30 p.m. and the restaurant wasn’t overly crowded.)
I politely explained that I didn’t and that I had even looked and didn’t see any option or link on their website to make one. She made an eye roll kind of face and replied, “Yes, there is on the website — and on our social media.” Note: As of right now, there is no link, no clear direction, or mention of exactly how to make a reservation anywhere online or the IG, they are not on Resy etc either, so it is not clear and the combative tone of the hostess was totally uncalled for and extremely poor customer service. There is a phone # on the website and that doesn’t even say “call for reservations” if that’s what they expect ppl to do it shouldn’t be clear. The hostess’ attitude made the whole interaction feel unnecessarily rude.
The food itself was decent, but one order came out incorrect, not the end of the world. But, No one came by to check on our meals after they arrived at all- l had to flag someone down to let them know a dish was incorrect, and even then it was just and “ok” didn’t even offer to get the correct one which was odd.
We never received drink or water refills the entire time we were there, and it was clear that the servers, hostess, and bartenders were more focused on socializing with each other right out in the open at the bar counter than on attending to guests.
I want to note, There was one woman whom I wish I knew her name because she was the only one actually trying to be attentive to things, however, she is just one person (she had long black hair and was not one of the servers).
It’s disappointing because I live locally, within walking distance and after this experience, we unfortunately have no desire to return due to the poor customer service we experienced.
***as for the reply that my meal was comped that is not true, they removed the additional fee of the chicken bc I did not get it?? So obv I shouldn’t pay for that, I DID PAY for the plain cheese quesadilla that I received. (Receipt attached)
And we were not asked if we wanted something else, until after our meals were already taken away and we were done? So the response given is not even accurate. Thanks though.

As a local, this isn’t my first choice for takeout or a night out, though I’ve only been once and should probably give it another try. The guacamole was solid, the tacos were okay (about 3.5 stars), and the drinks were excellent (5 stars). The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was genuinely great. It did feel a bit expensive for what we ordered, though I recognize prices have gone up everywhere. Overall, I’d still recommend it and plan to give it another chance or two.

My friends and I went to Sa y Lima yesterday and had a great experience. The staff was terrific, attentive and fun. We ordered a couple of appetizers drinks and then entrees. It was all so delicious we never had a chance to take photos. The owner Erik was there and checked on us to be sure we were happy. Our waitress Gabriella was wonderful and Carl the bartender came to our table to make sure we were happy with our drinks. The decor is beautiful and welcoming. We can’t wait to go back.
