My wife and I both enjoyed an excellent dinner experience at this very cool restaurant. It is additionally in a historic building, which the decor is outstanding and very unique. Has the second floor private dining area and the first floor area is big and spacious. They also have outdoor seating for when the weather is good. I had the rib pot roast dinner and it was Superior and my wife had chicken risotto with chicken Chesapeake with crab cake and she loves hers as well. Very interesting dining experience and we absolutely will be going back again. Three thumbs up! Emma our waitress was also very good- right on point, and always double-checking to see that everything was good for us.

Had never been here before, didn’t realize you needed a reservation because it’s so busy. Originally we were told no tables available but as we headed out they told us they could take us. And I’m glad they did, the food was delicious! The vibe was great and service was good. My drink was a bit strong lol but I’m a light weight and most people would appreciate them not being skimpy on the alcohol. I had the Chesapeake Risotto and honestly I would order this repeatedly… It was delicious. Also got the hot Italian pizza which was good. Hubby got a basic burger but that was nice and hot as well. Directly across the street from the Maryland theater was an added bonus. Parking in the garage next door was only $2. Definitely recommend.

The Old Bay Chickens were delicious and the crab cake burger was great too. However, the pizza taste like a frozen box pizza from the supermarket. No impactual flavor, just really crispy crust with meat and cheese. I will try this place again, just not for the pizza.

28 South did not disappoint. The menu has something for everyone’s taste buds. The pizza was amazing. Great flavor and tasted great. The restaurant has a great vibe. The staff & mgr. were very friendly and accommodating. If you are in Hagerstown and looking for a great dinner…stop by and give them a try.

Sooooo many yummy sounding food options! I will have to be back as I couldn’t order them all haha. The food here was delicious! Service was friendly, but a tad slow, bit I don’t fault them. It was a Thursday, awkward time, Covid, and seemed to be just 2 on staff, so completely understandable, and I’m sure different if was more a peak time. I got the lamb lollipops and the crab wontons, both were amazing, I was surprised how much crab was in the wontons! Like biting into a good meaty lump crab cake and not just some filler crabdip. My wife got the naked pizza and really enjoyed it, the note I sampled was very fresh tasting with strong herbs and flavors, not ur average cheese pizza for sure.

This unfortunately was not what I was expecting. The decore was great and love the use of the building, unfortunately the food was not at all what I was thinking. The staff was very attentive. Ordered the baschata and this was an deconstructed and that was a first. We then prefer the Ratatouille and this was not cut in even portions causing this to be over cooked and undercooked at the same time. The wild boar Bolognese was not at all what it should have been. It was greesey and tasted like BBQ and in thinking about it this would have been a better BBQ that this. We also had the cheese burger and this was overly salty.

28 South catered my husband’s birthday party and everything was fantastic! Bianca was great to work with and very accommodating! Our guests enjoyed all the food and portions were plentiful. Highly recommend!!

Meh. It was OK. I was excited and intrigued by the menu, so my husband and I tried it for our anniversary lunch today. Place was mostly empty. Stood at the door… Sign said wait to be seated. Finally had to get bartender’s attention (looking at her phone) and she told us to sit anywhere. Server was upbeat and pleasant. We told her we weren’t in a hurry and she didn’t rush us but was still attentive. Ordered cheese fondue. It came out quickly. Fondue was good. Bread wasn’t toasted or warm. “Baby” carrots we’re huge, thick, dry and tasted like smell of inside of a fridge. Seemed old. We didn’t want to dip cold carrots into warm fondue anyway. Fondue quickly got cold. Then husband had the Buffalo wrap. He said it was OK, but he wouldn’t order it again. I had the fish and chips which comes with salad. Very good greens. Blue cheese dressing has bits of blue cheese but in milky base. I requested another dressing. Fig/maple dressing was great. Fish was browned on outside, but areas of raw tasting coating underneath and fish didn’t seem cooked enough. I took it home to cook more. FF were ok, limp. Portion sizes are good. Reasonably priced. We’re not sure if we’ll go back. Maybe give it one more try. Menu looks good but preparation is spotty.

An amazing experience! The food and service were incredible! The only downfall to this trip was that they ruined crab Rangoon for me because their Crab Wontons were TO DIE FOR!
