If you like hawaiian food then come sit down for a spell and order up. Prices may seem high but the portions are generous, I came in starving and I barely managed to finish a seafood combo. You can easily share combos here.
Free soda fountain refills is nice because, like I said, huge portions.
The short ribs are soooo gooood and the staff seem to be having a great time. It is a bit noisy/echoey if you care about that but you can easily take the food home, as platelunch is supposed to be portable.
I have a new regular haunt.
I did reach out on the app on 12/1/25 but have yet to hear back. so I posted my review.
The Kalua pork and cabbage bowl, and macaroni salad were good, the katsu chicken did not come with sauce, and the spam musubi was the best! It was fun to have Hawaiian Sun with good. It’s a cute space with a fun vibe overall.
Negatives:
Ordered at 4pm on a Saturday with probably 10 people already waiting for food and it took more than an hour to get the order, the floor and tables were really sticky and dirty with no one cleaning during the roughly 2 hours we were there, and the front counter service person was unfriendly (not sure if that’s normal or they were overwhelmed). Was told the dole whip machine was broken and/or they don’t have cups.
I’d like to try more of the food, but doubt I’ll be back with that long of a wait and the overall dirtiness.
We tried the Loco Moco with scrambled eggs, served with a scoop of rice and mac salad, 10/10! We also had the Chicken Katsu Curry, which came with two scoops of rice and mac salad, 8/10. The curry was tasty, though the flavor was a bit strong for me personally.
For dessert, we enjoyed a cold Pineapple Dole Whip and a warm, fluffy, slightly crunchy Malasada—both were perfect sweet endings to the meal. Highly recommend!
