Great little place off the beaten path!!! Lovely place and simple menu but very good. Had the club with the spinach cheese dip for the side and wife had the turkey avocado with the same side. Both were amazing. Can’t go without having dessert. We had the double chocolate cake and the lemon blueberry cake. Both didn’t disappoint.

What a place! The food, atmosphere and service was just wonderful. I had the special, which was a New York strip (medium rare of course), green beans with red onions, and mashed potatoes. My wife had the Basil Parmesan sandwich. I had a bite, and it was very tasty! Finished off my steak with a classic Mule. Very good. A very lovely place.

Also, I’m not sure if reservations are necessary. We may have showed up at the right time. The place was full, but we were seated right away.

OH MY STARS IN HEAVEN!!!
This little gem of a café came highly recommended to us by several people and we made it a priority to visit on a recent anniversary trip to St. Joe, AR.

I can assure you, we were NOT disappointed…at all…and neither will you!!! From the moment we pulled into the gravel parking lot, we knew it was time to loosen the elastic in the waistline and get ready for a plate full of deliciousness that waited us inside this charming old house. It was very inviting, very welcoming, as if you were about to enter into Granny’s kitchen.

The weather could not have been more perfect, so my husband and I sat outside on the little patio; there are two tables on the front porch and one table on a stone patio, as well as, tables on a screened-in back porch if sitting outside is your preference. As you entered into this charming little house, you were instantly greeted with an array of homemade desserts from pies, to cakes, to other sweet yummyliciousness. I think that’s intentional for you to see this display first thing upon entering, but I for one am definitely not complaining because what we saw coming out of the oven was bubbling over and smelled AMAZING!!!! From our understanding, Skylark Café is what they’re known for…their homemade desserts.

As a first timer, deciding what to order was challenging because of all that was offered; soup, salad, sandwiches, to name a few. We started with the hummus appetizer and well…we were not disappointed. It had a lemon zest to it, right size portion for two, and was accompanied with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions. My husband ordered the Skylark Club and it’s a good thing we had not eaten anything prior to this bc his eyes popped wide open when they brought out our food. I am a sucker for some good BBQ, especially brisket, and I knew what I would be eating just by the intense aroma of smoked meat. Both of our sandwiches were served on homemade bread from Neighbor’s Mill Bakery out of Harrison, AR…and if you’ve ever been there…then you know! SO SO good! We both had the potato salad as our side and it was just as delicious.

Now that we made it through lunch, we knew we had to make room for that dessert we saw being pulled from the oven when we first arrived. The two pies that were bubbling over with all that goodness were the Blueberry Buttermilk Pie and the Chocolate Walnut Pie. I had requested the Chocolate Espresso Pie but the Chocolate Walnut Pie was delivered instead but lemme tell you….I was SO HAPPY and didn’t care because it was CHOCOLATE and it was DIVINE!!! Now…that Blueberry Buttermilk Pie is a whole’nother story!!! DEAR GOD IN HEAVEN…as soon as it hit your tastes buds, you heard angels singing. It was freshly made, it was still HOT, and it tasted every bit as delicious as it looked!!! Yes & Amen!

Long story short, my husband and I THOROUGHLY enjoyed our visit to Skylark Café, so much so that, we took our youngest son and his girlfriend a few days later after we floated the Buffalo River…for the 2nd time that week!!!

Beautiful little place with top notch food. The owners and staff have great attention to detail and hospitality.
The menu has creative fare and all the best American comforts. Truly something for everyone here.

Eating here feels more like an event or experience, not just a meal!

They also have a unique gift shop on site.

If you are in the area, this is definitely the place to stop!

I’ve been coming to Skylarks for about 10 years, and every visit has been a great experience. The food and pastries are consistently excellent, and the use of fresh ingredients really shows in the flavor and quality.

The only issue I encountered was during my most recent visit, when I was told that onions couldn’t be removed from my sandwich because substitutions supposedly slow the kitchen down. This had never been an issue for me in the past, and I found it a bit confusing since removing an ingredient seems like it would require less work, not more. I also felt the response came across as a little rude.

Aside from that one experience, I have nothing negative to say and have always enjoyed Skylarks.

Located in a beautifully restored historic 1907 craftsman style house built by the town’s doctor this restaurant has nostalgic atmosphere in spades. Locally sourced ingredients combined with talented chefs will make this an experience that you won’t soon forget.

Coolest little cafe in an old house, beautiful decor and flowers were beautiful. The food is incredible and the service was spot on! Homemade cakes were delicious and their quesadillas and tacos are so delicious!!! Highly recommend!!! Worth the travel off the beaten path, for sure!

What an absolute, unbelievable jewel of a charming and quaint home restaurant! It would be worth the drive just to see the decor (we were sat by a cozy, postcard, brick fireplace to warm ourselves from the chill) but the food is beyond amazing! We had the chicken provolone basil sandwich, brisket tacos, chili and cornbread, blueberry-buttermilk pie. All spectacular!! I honestly cannot remember the last time we had such “authentically homemade” food in a restaurant. Each and every ingredient tastes so fresh. We will most definitely be driving out of our way to return!
