If our walls could talk, they’d tell the tale of an instantly intimate tavern perched above the Charles River—where academics hatch their next ideas and urban explorers recount the day’s adventures. Here, spirited conversations break out over modern New England fare, imaginative cocktails, and a modern library setting—all paired with showstopping skyline views. Sip by sip, bite by bite, your own Boston story happens here.

Cozy little restaurant and attached lounge in the Hyatt regency. They have a good cocktail list, beers wine and liquor. Food is typical bar menu. Recommend the chicken sandwich.

I was attending a convention at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge and wasn’t in the mood to find outside food.
I did not expect to eat what was quite literally the best cheeseburger of my life. The Tavern Burger is perfect. The edges are crispy and the meat is moist without dripping fat all over your hand. The beef is well seasoned, the condiments enhance the flavor without being overwhelming. I had one every night of my stay because the first one couldn’t possibly have been *that* good.
The second one was that good also. So was the third.
I think I’m spoiled now.

You know when they say a “hidden gem”? I feel like the Paperback Tavern encompasses this title. My husband and I had SUCH a great date night here! From the ambiance to the food…they. did. Not. Miss! The food is actually enjoyable to eat and not just “eh…edible”. Coming from a Carribean household where we LOVE our food to be well seasoned, I’m VERY picky about non-carribean food. The fact that all the food was cooked perfectly AND tasted Amazing, blew my mind! We had 4 different drinks, 2 appetizers, 3 different entrees and a dessert. Take their Cacio e Pepe Wings for example; With most American food, I always have to dunk or bathe my wings in some kind of sauce to actually enjoy wings, but these wings at Paperback….I ate most of them WITHOUT the need for any sauce (even though it came with it). It was sooo well-seasoned and had a nice crunch to the skin! And OH MY GOSH, THE LYCHEE LEMONADE! When I tell you they have the BEST lemonade I’ve ever had?? Seriously..all the words: Sweet, fizzy, refreshing, crisp, tart, tangy..Just, SO GOOD! And then we got to dessert…. the Boston Cream Pie!!! Man…Just GO eat here if you get a chance lol. I wish I could go through all the food and drinks for you all but this is just a Lil TASTE of how amazing everything went. If you’re ever in Cambridge/Boston MA, it’s WORTH IT to try Paperback Tavern. Take our word for it!

Great customer service, and spacious seating with large windows. However, the food is either bland or overly salty… for example, the overpriced avo toast had little flavor. But the bacon was salty and lox too fishy. If I didn’t have breakfast vouchers, I wouldn’t eat here again.

Who knew the best scrambled eggs of my entire life would be hiding in a hotel restaurant? The Paperback in Cambridge is that girl!!! The scrambled eggs were buttery, salty, cloud-like fluffy perfection that puts every trendy brunch spot in Boston to shame.
The atmosphere is super cozy with a warmly lit sophisticated book theme plus drop dead gorgeous views of the city and water. The staff are serving realness with kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming dispositions and provide amazing hospitality .
Paperback is the definition of a hidden gem with equal parts comfort, charm, and culinary gag-worthy goodness!!! I would come here again and will be back for dinner for sure

The wait times are considerably long. A group of people by me had a show to go to and had to ask at least once to “hurry” with the food so they weren’t late. Another group was mad that a separate table ordered food after them but got their food first.
Food was also mediocre. My salad was good, but the chicken was dry as can be. I can put that aside if there’s a good sauce or a side that aides in moistening the dish, but the sucatash, and veggies were dry as well. Flavors were okay but it was hard to finish. The one positive I’ll give beyond the good salad was a good drink as well. Other than that they need speedier service and to consider menu enhancements.

Average restaurant with average diner / pub food and average service. The views of the river and the regatta were incredible, by far the best feature. The Hyatt is also in an area where other dine-in options are about a mile away. So I ate 3 meals here over 4 days just for the convenience, so I think that makes it a good enough hotel restaurant.
The wait staff were friendly but running over their capacity. Kudos to them for remaining friendly. Food came out quickly, but the overall experience felt slow due to waits to order, get the check, get something missing, etc.
The one thing truly remarkable on the menu is the boston cream sundae. I’d come back for that alone.

I recently dined at the Paperback Tavern in Hyatt Regency Boston Cambridge and ordered the salmon, and I must say, it was absolutely delicious. The salmon was cooked to perfection, moist and flaky with a beautiful sear on the outside. The flavors were well balanced and complemented the fish perfectly.
The service at the tavern was excellent. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, and the atmosphere was comfortable and inviting. The tavern also had a great selection of craft beers and wines to choose from, which paired well with the meal.
Overall, I highly recommend the Paperback Tavern for a great dining experience. The salmon dish was a standout, and the service was top-notch. My only criticism would be that the prices are a bit on the higher side, with plenty of other options in the area.

Such a pleasant experience! First time in Boston and our bartender Thomas was the perfect introduction. He kept the drinks coming and provided excellent recommendations. Probably the best lobster roll we had all weekend was from the Paperback Tavern.
