My husband and I were in town for other business and did a search for nearby restaurants … we’re SO glad we took a chance on this place. The food exceeded our expectations and the prices were beyond reasonable, especially for the quality and portions of the food.
Fried catfish (ordered extra crispy) gets two thumbs up! Cleaned properly with no muddy taste, and perfectly crispy and flaky. More please! My husband had the hog eye burger and is still raving about it, saying he will definitely order it again. We met a couple who said they drive in from 45 minutes away regularly for the Wayne’s Burger and daily special. Excellent for patio dining and beverages on a nice day!

Very classy-country atmosphere. Friendly and laid back. Everyone is like someone you have met before. Treated us like family. The food was as good as the service and the atmosphere. Great burger! My wife had the fried chicken livers and fresh fried okra. OUTSTANDING! You can’t go wrong. Unless you go somewhere else.

Great food and service. Would eat there again if I am back up that way.
Well I made it back and it was great, the service, the food, the atmosphere. I had the flat iron steak with broccoli and pinto beans. She had the catfish dinner with fries and slaw. Both were delicious and the price was good for the portions. Try it out if you are ever up that way.

My friend & I went for dinner because this was on our restaurant list to try. This place is in serious need of an update. The seats were so old the cushions were cracked & they had peeling wallpaper.

We started out with the Gouda Mac Bites
Smoked Gouda cheese blended with mini macaroni served deep fried with bacon jam sauce 12.99 This wasn’t bad. It was the first time I had tried bacon jam & I liked it. I would have liked a little more cheese in the bites. They also brought us what we assumed was ranch & we didn’t like it.

I ordered the Peach Whiskey Chicken a chicken filet over rice with an in-house made peach whiskey glaze serve with one side, and one choice of bread 14.99

This was the driest chicken I’ve ever had. There was very little glaze & I didn’t taste any peach in it & it was lukewarm. I’m not sure what the reasoning behind it was but they “smashed” my rice on the plate. Maybe to make it look fuller?? But regardless of the reason the rice was cold! The hush puppies were overcooked. The baked potato was ok, nothing spectacular about it.

My friend ordered the Ribeye Steak
Juicy 12 oz. hand trimmed Scotch filet, delivering rich and tender flavor 26.99 she also ordered the Cranberry Bacon Brussel Sprouts & the Mac N cheese.

The brussel sprouts were pretty good, the Mac & cheese not so much! It was bland & not very cheesy. She tried to add salt & pepper to give it some kind of taste and it still didn’t taste good. The ribeye was seasoned well.

First time visitor and honestly I wasn’t sure what to expect when we arrived. Boy, what an awesome surprise this little gem was. The staff was friendly, efficient, and anticipated all our needs. The cafe is clean and well set up. They have a small bar area off to the back. I had the fried catfish sandwich and it was outstanding. Perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. This was a diamond in the rough and we look forward to returning.

We are driving from Arizona. We didn’t find really good food in Illinois or Kentucky. This was a pleasant place. Food was really good. Service was friendly. The gouda bites delicious!

Reviews of Wayne’s are pretty good, so I was excited to try this place out while in Livingston for the afternoon. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. I decided to get the Swiss & Mushroom Burger with Sweet Potato Fries. My mom ordered the Grouper with Mashed Potatoes and Creamed Corn. My burger was hot when it came out, but it had absolutely no flavor. I salted it 3 times, and it still didn’t have much flavor to it. The fries were my favorite kind of sweet potato fries, and they would have been great if they hadn’t have been overcooked. My mom’s dish was much worse than mine. Grouper is an expensive fish. If you don’t know how to cook it, please don’t offer it on your menu. First off, it wasn’t even cooked all the way through. You can see that in the last picture posted. Second, it didn’t taste like anything. I’m honestly not even sure it was Grouper. That is a very flavorful fish, and for it to have no taste at all was very surprising. On top of that, you’re going to charge me $17.95 for a piece of fish, not thoroughly cooked, with no flavor or seasoning on it?! The mashed potatoes were about half a cup and were barely warm, and the corn was barely warm as well. I was full when we left, but my mom was not. If I’m paying $30 for a meal, I expect to be full and satisfied. Unfortunately, we weren’t. It was disappointing to say the least. Our server was very good though.

Amazing fried catfish and fried cod (Wayne’s chippy)! The service was also excellent and everyone was super friendly. There tartar sauce was also amazing and beyond the normal tartar sauce that tastes the same everywhere. Definitely worth the stop if you are passing through!
