Stumbled across this restaurant and decided to treat myself to a pre-birthday meal. The brief tart and beef bourgenoin were delicious! Service was attentive, friendly and on point.

The French onion soup was excellent, and the butter chicken was also delicious. However, the fish in the fish and chips was over-fried, making the texture a bit tough. We chose to dine indoors, but the space felt uncomfortably warm, and a few flies were flying around inside, which unfortunately affected our overall dining experience. I hope the restaurant can improve the indoor comfort and hygiene, so their great food can be enjoyed to its fullest.

Exceptional service. We didn’t had reservations. But we were offered table at the attached twin “Penny Farthing Pub” and served the menu from Vis-a-Vis. We got Crab cakes, Prosciutto as starters Salmon Wellington, Steak frites ( Mains) and for dessert some chocolate mousse which were all quite delicious . Nice ambiance and wait staff were all quite warm and welcoming. Our table was attended by Kigi( not sure I am spelling it right, as I heard it only once ) who was quite exceptional, will get you things while you’re thinking to ask. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes fine dining with excellent service.❤️

The food was lovely and the service was great! Our table was beautifully set with fresh lavender and a candle lit water lantern. The restaurant is rather small, so I would recommend a reservation.
The quality of the products they use is definitely 10 out of 10. The Bison was cooked to perfection and exactly matching my request. The creme Brulee was one of the best we’ve had on the island.
Definitely recommend this lovely restraunt with amazing staff.

I visited during lunch, and the atmosphere inside was great. I ordered the seafood platter from the lunch menu, which was listed as suitable for 2-3 people. However, I think it might not be enough for three – it felt just right for the two of us. All the seafood on the platter seemed to have been pre-cooked and stored in the fridge, then served over ice. Considering the price, I’m not sure I’d order it again. That said, the restaurant itself was lovely, and I’d like to return to try other dishes.

We visited Vis-a-Vis during a dine-around event and were initially disappointed, so we never returned. However, today we decided to give it another try, and we had a great experience.
▪︎ The lamb was excellent; the side veggies were cooked perfectly, and the shredded potato block was amazing.
▪︎ The bison was also good, although the mushroom cream was quite salty, and the meat was a tad chewy.
▪︎ For dessert, the crème brûlée was decent.
Overall, I would definitely revisit this place again.
Edit: Tried their ratatouille. The sauce was good, but the vegetables were undercooked. Some of the zucchini was still crunchy, and the eggplant was chewy.

Vis-à-Vis in Oak Bay is a charming and cozy spot that offers a lovely dining experience. The atmosphere is quaint, with a nice balance between the inviting bar area and dining space.
The quality of food is quite good, with every dish thoughtfully prepared and flavourful. I tried the scallop soufflé and the shellfish bisque on separate occasions, both delicious. And the Herb Crusted Sablefish, which was great.
Service is attentive and friendly, ensuring a pleasant and relaxed visit. Whether you’re there for a casual drink at the bar or a full meal, Vis-à-Vis delivers a great experience for lunch and dinner. Definitely a place worth visiting if you’re in Victoria.

We had a birthday dinner here and Rebecca made it very special! She was so patient when we couldn’t decide what bottle of wine we wanted and was so attentive whenever we needed anything.. We recommend Vis-à-Vis for your next celebratory meal (and also the French onion soup).
