We ordered fried tofu as an appetizer, along with pad thai, tom yum soup, and beef stir-fry. Taste-wise, I was happy that the dishes were actually spicy enough for me, but all of them also leaned quite sweet.
They offer Early-bird delivery promotion (Place an order before 3:30pm on certain days then free delivery), but I found the process extremely difficult.
The restaurant didn’t answer the phone call for the order placement, so I had to email back and forth for this.
I think this can be improved somehow.
And you can’t choose the delivery time, so it’s just whenever they show up.
Their food and portion are good.
Its easy to compare it to other thai places but this location is close and easy to go to when commuting.
I thought i knew what i was getting but i ended up just telling the server what i wanted: pad thai and prawns, nothing spicy at all pls. She was very nice and patient, and she knows i am new to the place. She recommended Pad Thai Goong. They can give you different levels of spicy then asked if allergic or have preferences at all.
I also bought take out for my friends, the Phad See Lew and Chicken with cashew and vegies (Gai Phad Med Ma-muang). Very generous in portions and never shy on those cashews that we love!
I am so confused why this place has such high ratings…
Do you know that feeling after a long day when you can’t wait to eat yummy food and are excited to find a new restaurant – only to leave so miserablely disappointed because the food was practically inedible? And now you just spend way too much money on food that you cannot eat, only to have to get food somewhere else because you left hungry? It’s the worst feeling.
We ordered classics: Thai iced tea, the pad see lew and red curry. The server also hyped up the coconut rice so we got a side of that.
We were pretty excited when we got these large portions thinking we would have leftovers… but the joke was on us because within two bites the overwhelming amount of salt in the pad see lew dish made it impossible to eat. Everything in the dish was soaked in basically “soy sauce soup”. It was inedible. As they don’t have traditional broad noodles, they subbed with regular pad Thai noodles. Initially I thought they gave us the wrong dish because I have never had pad see lew like this before.
The service also left a lot to be desired, they only checked in on us when we could not continue eating due to the saltiness. When I asked them about it, they confirmed it’s the saltiest dish on the menu and basically just said “that’s just the way it is – maybe try something else next time”.
The chicken curry was overly fishy ( too much fish sauce) and was all one note. Typically Thai Currys are something you want to keep inhaling because they are so delicious… but not here. It was really mid not worth the high price tag — the same was true for the almost 9 dollar Thai iced tea !!! It was just fine but not with the price.
I don’t know how to explain the hyped up coconut rice but it just tasted like rice with fat. It was not coconuty at all, had no flavour other than tasting like I’m eating a block of butter.
All in all, I left so miserablely disappointed by the food, cost and service and will not be returning or recommending this place.
EDIT***
During this visit, I asked for more bean sprouts for Moo Gratiem (#34) and was pleased with the generous amount provided. The Phad Thai (#63) was phenomenal – it had a fiery, smoky scent and the taste was exquisite! It struck the perfect balance of salty and sweet, making it the best Phad Thai in town. Additionally, the Golden Cup appetizer was also fantastic (#1), the sweet and sour noodle (#61) was okay- it was a bit ketchupy, but still good. The service was a bit slow this time. It seems like only the owner’s daughter was “working”, while other two takes their sweet time.
Edit2: visited again, moo gratiem was good. Phad Thai was saturated with sauce. Too salty. Not really the phad thai I remeberdd
