The food was wonderful, the view was great and the service was top notch. We came for my wife’s birthday and I had contacted them a few weeks ago to see if they could do a custom cake. My wife loves Mary Poppins and I found a cake to give them a theme of what I wanted. Beth, the pastry chef, is a miracle worker because what she created was an EXACT duplicate cake that looked and tasted wonderful. Our evening could not have been better!!

Inside the Joseph Smith Hotel on the 10th floor. Best to enter hotel from the south if not using the underground parking. You might consider arriving early to listen to the pianist in the lobby. Make sure to look up as you enter the lobby and appreciate the stained glass ceiling, chandeliers, marbel pillars and ornate crown moulding. The Elevators are straight ahead behind the photos of Joseph & Emma Smith.
We arrived 1/2 hour early and the staff was able to seat us promptly. The views certainly peak around sunset. During our visit there was still a lot of construction at the temple, which added some exciting things to watch – like 5 portable restrooms swinging from a construction crane. LoL.
We ordered the strawberry italian soda, maple bacon fig flatbread and rolls with the housemade blackberry jam that were complimentary.
Entrees were Beef filet and Chicken provoleta. The beef was perfectly seared and a high “prime” quality cut. Skin on mash potatoes were also tasty. The provoleta was also deliscious.
Dessert included a very rich chocolate cake and the Toffee Cake with House Ice Cream. Toffee cake was our favorite.

My wife and I had a wonderful anniversary date here a little while ago. I highly recommend this place!
The view is beautiful! If you are native to the area or are a visitor, there’s something for everyone to see!
Food: 5/5. I highly recommend The Roof Smashburger. I’ve had it twice now and was happy each time. My wife enjoyed the Chicken Provoleta.
Bread/rolls: 10/5 (You could eat a meal of rolls and be a happy man.)
Service: 5/5. Everyone is kind and friendly. Kaitlin would appear out of nowhere to take a plate or refill a drink immediately. You are lucky to have her as your server.
Atmosphere: 5/5. The design and detail in this place is very pleasing to the eye.
Value for Price: 4.5/5. I think that you have two ways of looking at this. If you focus purely on the cost, you may find this restaurant a little expensive. However, I feel like the experience + the quality of the food makes the price average out better. This is a great place for a date with your significant other, but maybe not the best place to bring 6-10 kids.
Results: I would recommend this place to anyone for any special occasion.

The Roof in Salt Lake City blew us away! From start to finish, everything was phenomenal. We tried three appetizers, three entrees, and three desserts, and honestly, every single thing was delicious—but a few standout items stole the show: the scones, the rolls, the mac and cheese, and the berry cobbler. Each bite was perfection.
The view is absolutely stunning, especially at sunset—it really elevates the entire experience. And the service matched the food—our waiter, Brian, was attentive, friendly, and made the evening even more memorable. If you’re in Salt Lake City and want a meal that’s unforgettable, The Roof is an absolute must.

The roof finally opened back up but unfortunately they no longer do the buffet style they did before. The food was decent and the service was great but I just want it to be what it was before. The rolls were good, I wouldn’t recommend the scones they tasted very dry and like there was flour that wasn’t mixed into dough when they made them. The ribeye was great and so was the chicken.

We went here Friday night about 5 o’clock. So it wasn’t very crowded. We had made reservations. The rolls and jam were excellent. The funeral potato bites with the drizzled honey were delicious. The braised short rib was delicious. I got the Oso Buco and it was really good as well. Three people got the salmon and it was OK. The Scampi was really good and so was the lemon chicken. Maybe the best thing about the restaurant was how it was not noisy. We were able to talk very easily and hear each other. The view was also really great. Our servers were great. They were super friendly and very helpful. It was a great night.

Great since reopening! Good food, service and ambience was delightful. It’s more family friendly now but still very classy. Food was reasonably priced and delicious. Fed our entire family for about the same price as Chili’s. our kids loved seeing the temple construction, the trains and cranes! Make a reservation! We loved the funeral potato bites in fresh made hot honey, lion house rolls with in house churned lemon butter and fresh made jam, the smash burger with bacon onion jam and garlic aioli and the salmon and sticky rice. The crème brûlée was sooo delicious and the berry cobbler was heaven.

This place is amazing. “aither” is the Greek word for the upper air, the air so fine that only Gods can breathe it, that’s what this place felt like immediately. Gorgeous views of temple square and the downtown, amazing at night. Their food is excellent to the max and their servers are so kind. Go eat here… Valentine’s Day, Anniversary, for whatever reason, can’t miss it!

Five full stars across-the-board! The food was absolutely delicious! The service was top-notch! Our server, Katelyn, was such a joy to be around and did everything she could to make our special night awesome. It had been many years since we went to old Roof restaurant, but this new change is an upgrade. From the perfectly baked Lion House rolls to the decadent chocolate cake, everything was perfect. Very highly recommended!
