The George: Where “Cozy” Meets Culinary Excellence

If you live in Nassau County and haven’t been to The George in Rockville Centre yet, you are missing out on a serious hidden gem. We walked in expecting a nice family dinner or typical bar fare, but what we got was a culinary experience that blew our expectations out of the water.

The vibe hits that perfect sweet spot—cozy and warm enough for a family meal, yet intimate enough for a low-key date night. But the real surprise? The kitchen. This is not your average bar food. My wife ordered the Korean BBQ Shrimp, and I had the Lemon Chicken. Both dishes were outstanding—complex, fresh, and elevated far beyond standard pub grub.

Honesty time: You can skip the Chocolate Cake. While the cake itself was decent, the whipped cream tasted like it came straight from a can, which felt like a letdown compared to the high quality of the entrees.

That minor detail aside, The George is a standout addition to the RVC dining scene. If you want elevated food in a relaxed atmosphere, this is the place. We are already planning our return trip to try the rest of the menu!

The George is a great place, the theme is laid out perfectly. Thoroughly enjoyed restaurant week, their appetizers are well executed and the main dishes too!

This place is a must visit!

The ambiance was just spectacular; it feels like an upscale lounge. The walls were adorned with photos of famous Georges such as George Costanza, George Bush, George Harrison, and even curious George! Denise is very friendly and knowledgeable about the business and menu. When she didn’t know the answer to a specific question about the on tap beer, she asked the bartender and gave us a free sample to try. The menu has a unique mix of flavors that you just want to keep coming back to try. Today, we had the short rib that just fell apart, the French onion meatloaf that was so nice and juicy, and a gorgonzola bread that was so satisfying. Next time, I’ll be sure to have the burrata appetizer!

Great, good, service, and we love supporting small businesses. Some people say it’s loud here but of course it is, lol. It’s a bar/restaraunt. Great local business and they went out of the way to accommodate guests we brought who had some allergies. Wait times can be long sometimes but it’s worth it. Staff is great!

We came here to celebrate a birthday and food was really good. Although I wasn’t a big fan of a lot of the menu options, the waiter was nice enoughto accommodate me. The bartender made our cocktails deliociously to order. Our waiter was amazing even though they were short staffed. Overall, it was a fun evening.

Superb restaurant. Outdoor seating was perfect for a warm day. Strong cocktails and excellent customer service from my waitress Grace. I had the chicken tostada. It was delicious. Definitely make this a summer eats destination.

This was my first time here, it was a Friday night. The atmosphere was nice, I like the lights but didn’t enjoy the 50’s music so much. The paper like straws were the least disgusting paper straws I’ve had, you can tell they’re nice quality though and didn’t get mushy by the end of dinner. They’re just thick like, as expected, and it’s hard to get used to. Our sodas were ice cold and bubbly, thank goodness, and I have to use straws because of my sensitive teeth. Also, we wished there were soup. The popcorn was just amazing! I ordered an exclusive blend 5 Oz. Burger, added avocado and asked for ranch and the house sauce, and I was given not one but two ranch cups! My burger was fabulous and I ate almost all of it, but did have some of my mans Patti melt burger, which he loved and put cole slaw on. I liked my burger better. The cole slaw was delicious, could use a bit more vinegar in my opinion. Our waitress was superb and kept our sodas filled, was very quick and I appreciated that my sauces weren’t forgotten and that she wasn’t fake and overly friendly- this is why she got around a 40% tip, it was well deserved. I took home a piece of pumpkin pie with yummy sauce, whip cream and ice cream, it was outstanding! The crust was soft too. I look forward to coming back again some day.

First time here since the new name and menu has been put up and it was a pretty good experience overall I loved the pierogis and the bread was good as well just wish the burrata was like 2 of them for the price I paid but my burger was good and I love the shape of the homemade fries just had a little issue with the steak tidbits as we were never asked how we wanted it cooked and it came out like burnt but our server was so nice and brought out a new dish and it was great definitely a nice menu and atmosphere
